Falcons RB Norwood out with hip flexor

Falcons running back Jerious Norwood went out with an injured
right hip during the first half of Sunday night's game against
the Chicago Bears. Norwood, who already has sustained two
concussions this season and missed a game recovering from
the second one, walked slowly toward the tunnel with a hip
flexor in the second quarter. He did not return for the start
of the second half. Norwood led the Falcons in rushing during
the first half, carrying four times for 21 yards as Atlanta
built a 14-7 lead. The Falcons also lost backup safety
William Moore to a hamstring injury and starting cornerback
Brian Williams to a right knee injury in the second half.
Williams walked slowly off the field but the team announced
he would not return. Chicago lost starting linebacker Pisa
Tinoisamoa to a knee injury in the second half. There was no
immediate update on his status.

Brees reaches 100 TDs as Saints QB

Drew Brees threw his 100th touchdown pass for the New Orleans
Saints during the first half of Sunday's game against the New
York Giants, reaching the mark in only his 53rd regular-season
game with the club. Brees threw scoring passes of 1 yard to
Jeremy Shockey, 36 yards to Robert Meachem and 12 yards to
Lance Moore during the Saints' first four offensive series.
The third scoring strike, which was the Saints' fourth TD of
the game, put Brees at 100. The Saints signed Brees as a free
agent in 2006 after the San Diego Chargers let him go. Only
Aaron Brooks (120) and Archie Manning (115) had more touchdown
passes as Saints.

Panthers S Dante Wesley ejected

Carolina safety Dante Wesley was ejected late in the first half
of Sunday's game against Tampa Bay when he launched himself into
Buccaneers punt returner Clifton Smith, who had signaled for a
fair catch. The hit with 10 seconds left in the second quarter
brought players from both teams off the sidelines. No penalties
resulted from the pushing and shoving between the NFC South
rivals. Smith remained on the ground for a few minutes, then
was helped to his feet and walked off the field. Wesley appeared
to leave his feet and hit Smith in the upper body with his left
shoulder. The Panthers were penalized 15 yards. The Bucs said at
halftime that Smith had a concussion and would miss the remainder
of the game.

Packers WR Driver sets Packers reception mark

Packers wide receiver Donald Driver has caught the most passes in
Green Bay's franchise history. Driver made the 5-yard reception
against Detroit early in the first quarter of Sunday's game for
his 596th catch, one more than Sterling Sharpe. Driver has caught
a pass in each of his last 116 games, also a Packers' franchise
mark. He immediately knew the magnitude of the moment before the
formal announcement at Lambeau Field. He pointed upward and
waved at Packers fans to thank them before making sure the ball
was saved. Driver was a seventh-round pick by the Packers in
1999. He's spent his entire career in Green Bay, playing in 150
games and starting 113 of them. The catch put Green Bay at the
Lions 6, and the Packers scored four plays later to take a
14-0 lead.

Eagles, Raiders lose key players

Philadelphia left tackle Jason Peters is among three Eagles
scheduled for MRI exams on Monday following injuries during
Sunday's 13-9 loss at Oakland. Peters hurt his left knee
midway through the first quarter and didn't return. Coach
Andy Reid called Peters' injury a sprained knee, but it was
thought to be worse. Defensive end Victor Abiamiri sprained
a knee late in the game and linebacker Omar Gaither sprained
a foot, Reid said. Losing Peters was a big blow - and
quarterback Donovan McNabb was sacked six times. Peters limped
to the sideline with assistance at the 7:20 mark after he
blocked Oakland defensive tackle Tommy Kelly and another player
rolled up his leg. He was taken to the locker room for
observation on his left knee and was replaced by King Dunlap.
X-rays were negative on Peters' knee. Raiders All-Pro cornerback
Nnamdi Asomugha was poked in the eye, later briefly returned
and then left the game again with vision trouble. "It's killing
me right now," Asomugha said. "They kept putting numbing drops
in, but that would go away after about five minutes. The cornea
was damaged on the third play of the game. I got hit in the eye
by DeSean (Jackson), so we'll check it out tomorrow." Asomugha
was lying down on a table behind the bench for about 20 minutes
while being examined by several members of the medical staff.
Asomugha was back on the field midway through the second quarter
but had a tough time. "I came back in because I was trying to
go with it. We had the shield on because the light was killing
my eye, so I went back in," he said. "I was on the field but
I couldn't see because it was really blurry. So, that was a
waste of time, so I came back out." He watched as much of the
game as he could. "I was trying to make out what was going on,
then it got better, so I was able to see it," he said.

Brady's 5 TD passes in 2nd quarter an NFL record

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw for an NFL-
record five touchdown passes in the second quarter of Sunday's
game against the Tennessee Titans. Brady threw for another TD
in the third quarter, matching his career high, before leaving
the game. Backup Brian Hoyer ran it in from 1 yard to make it
59-0 - a franchise record for points. Hoyer also led the Patriots
deep into Titans territory in the fourth, but New England turned
the ball over on downs after a short pass on fourth-and-7.
The record for TD passes in an entire game is seven, by five
players - all before the NFL-AFL merger in 1970. Since then,
14 quarterbacks have thrown for six TDs in a game, including
Brady against Miami in 2007. Brady threw two TD passes each
to Wes Welker and Randy Moss in the second quarter, and another
to Kevin Faulk. He hit Moss again early in the third quarter
to make it 52-0.
