Hello Everyone...

Lollapalooza was GREAT! Yes, it was almost unbearably hot, it rained, and they evacuated the park for 3 hours, but none of that stopped most of the fest-goers from having a great time. I saw plenty of my favorite bands, and a few new ones that I'll start getting into soon. The complete list of bands I saw: Dr. Dog, Metric, Die Antwoord, Band of Skulls, The Shins, NERO, Black Sabbath, Delta Spirit, Franz Ferdinand, Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Rabbits, Doctor P, Florence + The Machine, Miike Snow, and Mr. Jack White himself.

Every band I saw put on a great performance, and the crowd was pretty well-mannered even despite the storm evac. There was once incident of a guy toppling a traffic light, and I heard some grown man punched a 11 year old for her beach ball...but other than that everyone's spirits were friendly and high (you know what I mean)

Black Sabbath was probably one of the best experiences, since it was the original lineup, sans drummer. Ozzy worked his butt off, and despite being what, 62? He sang and screamed more or less like the old days. It felt like watching an important part of music history - these guys invented heavy metal, and I won't hear otherwise. Those deep bass sounds and monster riffs were coming out of people's speakers in the late 60's. It was mind blowing to hear how good Tony Iommi and crew sound, and how heavy it was even compared to some of today's current bands. Unfortunately, the official footage hasn't ben uploaded from their set, and that bums me out. Instead, here is some vintage 1970 Sabbath, performing Fairies Wear Boots.
