Greetings fellow Bizarros:

It may seem like I have been picking on cops recently, but
seriously, these are the stories that have been in the
news! Like this one about a Chattanooga Police officer
who attempted to stop a man from bringing his wife into a
hospital emergency room. They know compassion in Tennessee.

It all started when Aline Wright began suffering symptoms
of a stroke. A cancer survivor who is in constant danger
of stroke symptoms due to medication, she knew that she
needed to get to the emergency room as quickly as possible.

So her husband of just four days, Jesse Wright, put her in
their car and drove to Erlanger hospital. Along the way,
Wright, with his emergency flasher on and blowing his horn,
ran two red lights.

While driving through the second light he narrowly missed
Officer James Daves who put on his lights and began following
Wright.

Wright said he thought they were so close to Erlanger that
it was obvious where he was heading, so he proceeded to the
emergency room entrance.

That was where Officer Daves physically blocked them from
entering the hospital, angry over Wright's not stopping
after running the red lights.

The husband was finally able to get around the officer and
hand his wife over to the waiting medical personnel.

What's more, Jesse Wright said he was told by Daves to turn
himself into the Hamilton County Jail, where he would be
charged with a felony. Jesse claims that when he asked what
felony he would be charged with, Daves said, "I'll think of
something you sh? head."

To top it all off, the officer has been placed on administrative
leave and Wright, who works as a medic for the hospital, has
been suspended until the matter is resolved.

Bizarrely,

Lewis

-------- Fireman's lost ring found 11 years later --------

WAREHAM, Mass. - A Massachusetts man said he was raking
his yard when he came across a long-sought item -- a
wedding ring lost by a firefighter during a blaze 11 years
ago. Bruce Treadwell of Wareham said he initially thought
the ring he found recently was a toy, or belonged to a
family member, but he soon remembered the years-long search
for the wedding ring lost outside his home by Wareham Fire
Chief Robert McDuffy, WHDH-TV, Boston, reported. "When I
got on the phone with him he was so excited," Treadwell's
wife, Judith, said of McDuffy. McDuffy said he and his
wife of 25 years were delighted to have the ring back.
"Sure enough as soon as I got there, it was my ring,"
McDuffy said. "I was in disbelief because 10 years, it was
in the ground." "We looked for it for years and years and
years. I kept looking, every time I'd rake the lawn or mow
the lawn, we kept looking for it," Bruce Treadwell said.

---------- Town law would ban 'annoying' singing ----------

CHARLESTON, S.C. - A South Carolina town is considering
a measure that would add singing, whistling and holler-
ing to a law banning annoying sounds on public streets.
The Sullivan Island Town Council's proposed law, which
may be ratified in July, would make it illegal to sing,
yell, shout, whistle, hoot or holler on public streets
if it is annoying nearby people, particularly between
the hours of 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., The Post and Courier,
Charleston, S.C., reported. Town Administrator Andy
Benke said the wording of the proposed law came from an
ordinance in North Charleston, S.C. The town code already
bans crying, calling, shouting and using musical instru-
ments if they are deemed annoying by people nearby.

Lewis, the sailor in question was not French. If he was,
he'd have been turned over to the French navy. He was
French Canadian, probably Quebecois. Here in Canada we
have a vibrant, continuous French- speaking culture that
is over 400 years old. Arizona could learn from us,
because we don't try to deport them. The province of
Quebec tries to separate from the rest of Canada from
time to time, but that's a bit different. Harmless, if
expensive fun.
[So I'm guessing there are no well armed, well funded,
extremely violent, drug fueled gangs coming out of Quebec.]

Lewis, a couple of issues ago, someone commented that
Bizarre News seemed to be getting shorter. I think that
person was right--we used to get about 4 or 5 stories,
and now we usuallt get two. What gives? -CA dude
[You can always send some in! I'm not above using stories
submitted by readers. I'll even give you credit!]

You stilted sanctimonious sack of spurious sludge! You
edited most of my comment. Most of the "trailer trash"
here in Florida are transplants. There are miles of them
and most of those trailer villages destroyed miles of
productive citrus groves! Admittedly we did it to our-
selves. Now a lot of those miles of trailer jungles are
now trailer slums. They are filled with--- Les Strawn
[Sorry, Les. Your comment was too long. I had to cut it
short.]

The guy that wrote this probably took that disciplinary job
because he had a vendettea against the very people that
have protected him all his life - Cops! And you, Lewis,
what word do you have for 'Professional Courtesy?' We Cops
lay our lives on the line everyday, and never know if we
will be going home at the end of our shift.
-'Tired of it' in GA
[Yes, cops who put themselves at risk to protect the property
and safety of the citizenry deserve our respect. But police
are too often used as tools of government. Tax collecting
tools, information collecting tools, free speech suppression
tools and tools of corruption. It is too easy when too much
power is placed in the wrong hands.]
