Bizarre News - June 10, 2015

Greetings fellow Bizarros:

There is a lot to be said for a little peace and quiet.

Especially when you have a neighbor who just will not shut up with her constant...laundry? The rinsing, the spinning, the folding. Eventually there is only one thing left to do. Kidnapping.

A Vero Beach, Florida man is accused of abducting a neighbor after he claimed the woman and her husband were being too loud in their laundry room.

Authorities with the Vero Beach Police Department said Leon Thurston, 61, entered the laundry room of Jessica Scoville's home with a black baton and a handgun.

Investigators said Scoville's husband, David Scoville, was hit twice with the baton before Thurston grabbed Jessica Scoville by the wrist and took her from the home.

David Scoville then called police for help.

A search was launched for Jessica, when she flagged down police near Charles Park about 7:30 a.m. Thurston was taken into custody, and officials said a gun was found in his pants.

Jessica Scoville told authorities she asked Thurston to use a restroom and was able to get away and find help.

Thurston faces numerous charges, including armed burglary, aggravated battery and kidnapping.

Bizarrely,
Lewis

*-- Doctors in China remove 420 kidney stones from one patient --*

DONGYANG, China (UPI) - Surgeons in China who removed 420 kidney stones from a single patient blamed the man's tofu-heavy and water-light diet for the condition. Doctors at the Dongyang City People's Hospital said the patient, identified as Mr. Ho, 55, complained of stomach pain in May and a CT scan of his left kidney revealed it was filled with 420 stones. Dr. Wei Yubin told the Quianjiang Evening Post the man's love of tofu and lack of water likely led to his condition. "Soy products, especially gypsum tofu, are very high in calcium, the excess of which cannot be excreted from the body without a sufficient intake of water," he said. Doctors said Ho, who previously had 10 kidney stones removed about 20 years ago, could have lost his kidney if he had waited any longer to receive medical attention. The man's uncomfortable condition may have been painful, but it fell far short of a world record -- Guinness World Records said a surgeon in India removed 172,155 kidney stones from a patient's left kidney in 2009.

*-- Pay for pee: Indian city offers money for using public toilets --*

AHMEDABAD, India (UPI) - An Indian city announced residents will be paid each time they use public toilets in a bid to curb public urination and defecation. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, which has about 315 public toilets spread through the city, said officers posted at 67 toilets in areas fraught with public urination and defecation will hand out 1 rupee -- less than 1/5 of a single U.S. penny -- to each person who uses the toilets. "Once successful, the project will be implemented in all the 300 public toilets in Ahmedabad," AMC health officer Bhavikk Joshi said. Pravin Patel, AMC standing committee chairman, said repeat public urinators and defecators will be "identified and encouraged" to use the toilets. "The idea behind this project is to prevent open defecation in parts of the city where people, despite having public toilets, defecate in the open," Patel said. AMC officials said they plan to advertise the scheme at locations known to be hot spots for public defecation. They said the scheme, scheduled to take effect within the next 8-10 days, could lead to heavy fines for people who continue to forgo the toilets in favor of expelling their waste in public areas.

Lewis; I'm with you on legalization of drugs because look at all the people that would be out of work, the Mexican cartels, for example, would have to find some other way to maim and murder for profit. I guess some retraining into politics would be necessary at tax payer expense, of course. And prisons would be virtually empty, although they could be used to house the retraining of cartel members. -Wes

yes, one could wish our government would get so stupid, a similar thing is done with sex education in one of the Scandinavian countries and hmmm, stupid them, they have the lowest teen pregnancy and teenage venereal disease rates in the world! who couldda figured! stupid people!
