Greetings fellow Bizarros:

Remember the guy a few years ago who saved himself by
cutting his own arm off after it got trapped underneath
a large rock while he was hiking? You wouldn't think that
kind of thing happens all that often, would you?

Well, it seems a Connecticut man found himself in a very
similar, although not quite as tough-sounding situation.
He was trying to replace a part on his furnace in the base-
ment.

In the middle of the repair Sunday night his arm got stuck.
He lay there for almost three days before he finally had
to cut it off using his tools!

He was able to drink some of the water that had leaked out
of the boiler onto the basement floor, but by the second
day, he knew his left arm was in bad shape. Lack of blood
flow had made the arm begin to decay. It began to smell,
he later told the doctor.

He managed to put a tourniquet around his arm, and using
whatever tools were within reach, he started cutting. He
managed to cut through most of his arm, except for some
fat.

When he was finally found by a friend he was barely alive.
Doctors weren't able to reattach the limb, but they said
attempting the amputation was the right thing to do. It
kept any infection from the decaying arm from spreading
to the rest of his body.

"This man saved his own life," the doctor said.

I bet he also called an HVAC guy when he got out of the
hospital.

Bizarrely,

Lewis

----------- Man says gun made him robbery target -----------

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee man known by locals for openly
displaying his handgun on a hip holster says he is giving
up open carry after he was robbed at gunpoint. The 34-year-
old man, who asked not to be named, said he believes openly
displaying his handgun as allowed by law made him a target
for the robbery and he sees it as evidence of the need for
a concealed carry law, WTMJ-AM, Milwaukee, reported.
Neighbors said the man was always carrying the weapon when
they spotted him and he was known locally as "the guy with
the gun." "It was kind of scary to just see him walking
around all the time with that gun kind of just out in the
open," neighbor Shambria Mayham Autman said. "I think he
was trying to scare people off like, 'Yeah, don't mess
with me,' kind of attitude, but it didn't work." Nik
Clark, the president of Wisconsin Carry, said he has
never heard of a similar incident happening to any of the
hundreds of thousands of people in the state who open
carry. "So it really is a very unusual situation, very
unique," Clark said.

--------- One acre of pot found at Uganda convent ---------

MASAKA, Uganda - Police in Uganda said they are investigat-
ing the origins and purpose of a huge marijuana crop found
in the garden of a convent. Masaka district police
officials said investigators discovered a marijuana plant-
ation covering an entire acre of land in the gardens of
the convent, which was not specifically identified by
police, the BBC reported Thursday. Southern regional
commander Emmanuel Muhuirwe said two porters were arrested
and released on bail pending charges while two nuns were
questioned but not arrested. One of the nuns was quoted as
saying the marijuana was used as a health treatment for
the convent's pigs and other farm animals.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> READER COMMENTS <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Regarding the woman "fired for being too pretty": a few of
the photos of what she wore can be found online. In just
about every photo, she was wearing spiked heels and tight
clothing. This type of dressing is extremely unprofessional
for that type of work, and I think Citigroup had a right to
expect her to be a bit more conservative. I read that the
company had other issues with her, but the clothing became
a focus especially in her retaliation. Whatever the truth
is, her outfits were inappropriate. --Lisa
[That sounds very plausible. Something tells me if she was
competent or better at her job it wouldn't matter so much
if her tits were bouncing all over the place.]

Lewis, this is to Connie from Texas. Texas must have copied
New Jersey. We've had surcharges on traffic violations for
years and they last for three years also. Just another way
for the state to bleed money out of it's people and our
state government is still broke? -Eric
[Oh, anybody who thinks this kind of thing isn't just another
tax is delusional.]

Lewis, is it just me,. or is Bizarre News starting to get
shorter? Does this mean the world is starting to get saner?
Say it isn't so! -Chris

Hi Lewis, Those guys down under can't compete with Canada
where we do things even bigger than Texas. A 210 pound
burger? Child's play! How about a 590 pound burger! -Doug
[I'd say you have too many cows and too much time.]
