Greetings fellow Bizarros:Tree-hugging, techno-hippies and trigger-happy, redneck, gun nuts are at war in Berks County, Pa. And shit just got real.
An animal rights group called Showing Animals Respect and Kindness, or SHARK, is in the midst of a campaign against the Wing Pointe commercial hunting grounds in Hamburg, Berks County and its live pigeon shoots. Recently SHARK began to use a remote-controlled "Octocopter" equipped with a high tech video camera to secretly record the pigeon shoots as they happen.
This did not "fly" well with the hunting club members.
You can imagine what happened to an unwanted spy drone flying over private property filled with men with guns.
"The pigeon shooters are basically going into hiding," said Steve Hindi, president of SHARK. "So they're using a ring that's up a hill and completely surrounded by trees. So the only way you can get to it is through the air."
Hindi said he heard a single gunshot before they lost the camera feed and the drone went down. The police are investigating the incident.
Unfortunately for SHARK, the pigeon shoots are perfectly legal, and since this is the fourth time this kind of thing has happened with no results whatsoever, it looks like the only thing SHARK is accomplishing is giving the hunters something else to shoot at in addition to pigeons.
Bizarrely,

Email Lewis*-- 38M Americans shop online from toilet --*PORTLAND, Maine - More than 38 million Americans have shopped online while sitting on the toilet, a CashStar survey showed. The poll also suggests almost 17 million people have shopped via a mobile device while standing in the retailer's physical store; 9 million have secretly shopped while in a business meeting; and 4 million have shopped online while driving a car. The survey was conducted online nationwide by Harris Interactive on behalf of CashStar from Nov. 6-8, among 2,104 U.S. online adults ages 18 and older. The calculation was based on the U.S. Census Bureau's 2011 Census, which estimates there are 237,744,632 million adults ages 18 and older residing in the United States. The CashStar-Harris survey examined the strange places U.S. adults have used computers or mobile devices to shop online. "Smartphones and tablets have enabled consumers to shop and gift on-the-go in more ways and places than ever before," David Stone, co-founder and chief executive officer of CashStar, a digital gifting and incentives partner for retailers, said in a statement Monday. "The retailers who have been paying attention and catering to where and how consumers want to shop by mobile-optimizing their e-commerce sites and offering mobile eGift Cards will reap the rewards this holiday season and have a jump on the competition going into 2013."
*-- Cocaine given to trick-or-treaters --*OLDHAM, England - A British man admitted to accidentally handing out bags of cocaine to trick-or-treaters who turned out to be the children of a police officer. Oldham Magistrates' Court heard Donald Green, 23, accidentally dropped the bags of cocaine into the candy sacks of three children, ages 8, 6 and 5, instead of the candy bags in his pocket, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday. Police Constable Simon Fowell, the children's father, soon recognized the strange packages in his children's bags and Green was arrested on a charge of possessing a Class A drug. Green pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 months of probation as well as 130 hours community work and court costs totaling $230.
*-- READER COMMENTS --*Wait, let me get this straight - corky hears a story of cops tasing an innocent man and he sees socialism in that? I'm at a loss as to how that relates to economic systems at all. And I wonder whether corky puts on his tinfoil hat before he hides under the bed, or does he leave it there to await him. -Craig
[
Because that is as close as you are going to get to electro defibrillation with socialized medicine.]
I just read that the parents of a two year boy were fined because their son urinated in their own back yard. The police said there was a law against public urination regardless of age.
[
I don't know about "public urination" if it happened in a privately owned yard, but exposing a toddler's winky to street view might be a problem.]
Dear Lewis, As of this date, 23 states have started proceedings to secede from the union. If they don't impeach Obama I'm afraid the USA is going to be much smaller!
Lewis, It cracks me up to see these "state petitions" to secede from the United States of America. Calculate how many people signed up - say even 200,000 from California - and look at the total CA population of 37,253,956 (not counting our illegal residents) and it's not exactly earth-shattering news. -James
[
The U.S. Civil war started the same way...with online petitions for secession. Except this time we are all slaves of a greedy, corrupt government. I just hope everybody who is hoarding guns and ammunition remembers how the last one turned out. On the plus side the economy usually picks up after a war.]
