Greetings fellow Bizarros:

A lot of people have penchants for exotic pets. Alligators,
iguanas, boa constrictors, hedgehogs, even monkeys, like
the Kansas City, Missouri man in today's story. But he
wasn't content with a marmoset or a little capuchin. No,
he owned a 300-pound chimpanzee.

Of course, owning a 300-pound chimpanzee isn't weird enough
to get in Bizarre News. It is weird enough when the little
guy escapes and runs amok in a Kansas City neighborhood.

Police Captain Rich Lockhart said the department got a call
that a primate was on the loose a few miles from the Kansas
City Zoo.

Efforts to shoot the animal, named Sueko, with a tranquilizer
dart failed. And Sueko wasn't happy with the attention. The
only damage the chimp caused during its dash for freedom was
to climb on a patrol car and smash the passenger-side window
out with its fist.

I find that detail very telling.

It's owner was eventually able to coax it into a cage. Police
say the owner has been cited for having a dangerous animal
within city limits.

Bizarrely,

Lewis

-------- Three accused in 'black magic' sex trial --------

SYDNEY - Three people are on trial in Australia for
allegedly telling people they'd been cursed then luring
them to "prayer sessions" that involved sex, officials
say. Tony Golossian, 62, Arthur Psichogios, 40, and his
wife, Frances Psichogios, 39 have pleaded not guilty to
charges, The (Sydney) Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.
Crown prosecutor Sarah Huggett said victims were told
curses had been put on them and that to remove the curses
they had to attend "prayer sessions" where they were blind-
folded and sex took place. The women also received phone
calls from "demonic voices," Huggett alleged. The fiance
of one of the victims also received similar calls telling
him not to marry the woman, calls Hugget said were designed
to isolate her. The man testified he broke up with his
fiancee after the phone calls told him she was sleeping
around, the jury in the black magic sex trial heard.

--------- Mom lectured for giving ducks white bread --------

HAILSHAM, England - A British woman said she was lectured
by a city official for feeding white bread to ducks instead
of whole grain. Lisa Taplin, 34, of Hailsham, England, said
she and her sons, Luke, 4, and Dylan, 2, were feeding the
ducks at a local pond when a council warden approached and
told her the white bread she was using was "unhealthy" for
the water fowl, The Sun reported Thursday. Taplin said the
warden told her giving the ducks white bread was "like feed-
ing kids chips every day." "He said it would be better to
bring whole meal, granary or bird seed. He walked off,
leaving me feeling guilty," Taplin said. Nickey Caria,
Hailsham's deputy town clerk, said the council warden was
"right" to lecture the woman.

Hi Lewis, When I was in a summer student training program
at Argonne National Laboratory in 1966, among other things,
they taught us about the use of radium therapy during the
early part of the 20th century. It was limited to afflicting
the wealthy, since they were the only ones who could afford
it. Scientists learned an inmmense amount about radiation's
effect on the human body. Additionally, workers in watch
factories making glow-in-the-dark watch hands kept being
afflicted with mouth cancers because they licked the brushes
to keep them in shape for painting the hands. -DanJay
[You have to wonder how many people died from drinking
irradiated water and other bizarre health remedies before
somebody figured out what was going on!]

Lewis, I like your political comments. Bizarre people and
their bizarre political beliefs keep the crazies (Republicans)
from totally destroying our bizarre country. Nancy must be
one of 'those"! Yikes, Amy, who uses her real name on the
internet.

I find it very interesting, how people view taxes. Few realize
that corporations do not pay taxes. Yup.. not a dime... if
they did, they would have a new CFO very shortly!!.. The Corp.
merely collects $$ from the consumer in the price of goods/
services, and passes it on to the gov't.- just like at the
store. The hardware store doesnt' "charge" tax, it collects
it for the state/city. WE pay taxes. When politicians tell
you that they want to raise taxes on corporations, they are
raising OUR taxes. Govt doesnt create jobs. It may create an
environment that allows jobs to increase. But even if it
expands gov't employment, that takes tax $$ to pay the gov't
employees. Gov't ONLY consumes. Business helps us grow.
Politicians screw up the process. -Corky, TX
[That is a great way to look at corporate taxation, Corky.
Thanks!]

Lewis, I'm going to unsubscribe, commit suicide, and a bunch
of other nasty stuff. I can't stand your political/sexual/
religious/technophobic viewpoints and I'm way too stupid to
stop reading mid-sentence and start at the next paragraph.
I know the guilt felt by you and all the normal subscribers
will be brutal, but that's what you get for not agreeing
with me 100%. You should also know that my loving compas-
sionate deity will make you suffer a horrible, painful death
for not idolizing him/her/it. -Suzy Creamcheese
[You forgot xenophobic.]

At least with you the political commentary is simply and
opinion - unlike the major news "reporters" who try to mold
and make the news. Pontificate on and thanks for your
wonderful work. -J
