Greetings fellow Bizarros:
Why is it, when we see stories like this, it's always in
China or Japan, or occasionally Russia? Maybe because eel
farming isn't a very popular industry in North America.
And for good reason.
A fishmonger in China reportedly suffered severe internal
injuries after a live eel crawled up his rectum when he
fell into a tank. Li Chang, 43, slipped off his perch while
sitting on the edge of a container housing hundreds of the
creatures.
Chang said: "I guess they were scared when I suddenly landed
in the tank so they started wriggling everywhere. Several
shot up my trouser leg. And then to my horror I felt one go
up my bottom.
"I didn't say anything at first when I climbed out - I was
too embarrassed. I dried myself off and tried to carry on
working, but it was just too painful."
Chang's co-workers called the emergency services when he
later collapsed and doctors successfully removed the eel
and repaired the trauma in surgery lasting five hours.
A hospital spokesman said: "The eel had badly injured the
patient. If he had not arrived when he did he would have
died. We expect he will make a full recovery, though. The
eel was as wide as two fingers and as long as a man's arm."
There is no report on the condition of the eel.
Bizarrely,
Lewis

-------- Man: Air horn retaliation for loud music ---------
WATERLOO, Iowa - An Iowa man who used an air horn to
protest his neighbor's loud "hippie tunes" was arrested
for disorderly conduct, police said. Carl Herold, 62,
of Waterloo, said he "started blasting" the air horn
Wednesday because he was tired of calling police to
complain about the loud "hippie tunes" from his across-
the-street neighbor, the (Waterloo) WCF Courier, reported.
Police said they could hear the air horn from five blocks
away when they responded to complaints about the noise at
about 1 p.m. Wednesday. Herold was arrested when he
refused an order from officers to stop sounding the horn.
He was charged with disorderly conduct.

----------- Fake fall teacher banned in New York -----------
NEW YORK - New York education officials said a teacher who
allegedly faked a fall down the stairs to avoid a perform-
ance review is no longer eligible to teach in the city.
Officials said Ilene Feldman, 33, a first-year teacher at
the High School for Innovation in Advertising and Media,
was caught on camera faking a fall down the stairs in an
apparent attempt to get out of a scheduled classroom
observation by her supervisor, the New York Post reported.
The observation was scheduled after Feldman received a
poor performance review, a report from the Office of the
Special Commissioner of Investigation said. Feldman, who
denied faking the December 2008 fall, resigned from the
school system and officials said she has since been
classified ineligible to teach in the city's school
system.

Oh so let me get this straight. The question has no answer
so they make one up? Sound like those crazy guys who make
global warming graphs. Not one of their predictions has
been right to date. Yet like morons we still believe them
and the weatherman to boot. -John
[Well, global warming is a theory. It could be right, or
it could eventually be proven wrong. The important thing
to focus on is pollution reduction. Who cares if global
warming is proven wrong if the world is too polluted to
sustain life.]
Okay, so this sword-wielding drunk guy sliced of somebody's
finger, but it turned out to be the wrong guy? I wonder who
the guy he thought he was going after probably thought about
all this, or if he even knows about it. -Jeff
[Probably thought, 'Wow, dodged that bullet.']
What the dear lady who commented about traffic ticket sur-
charges failed to tell you is that these fines are only
applied to those who drive on suspended licenses. In other
words these people have either had their licenses taking
for DWI, no insurance, too many traffic violations, or
failure to appear. Otherwise surcharges are not added. -Heidi
Hey Lewis, My grandfather used to get LOADS of mail
requesting money for one thing or another. Unfortunately,
we didn't know that he was suffering from dementia until
after he had passed and discovered that he had virtually
bankrupted himself and my grandmama. They didn't stop until
I finally started sending them back in their own postage
paid envelopes with 'DECEASED' written across the money
request. He has been gone for over 10 years, and we
occasionally still get something addressed to him! -Lisa
[I'm sure if those companies knew who they were getting
their money from they would have stopped, but the nature
of that business is to blanket as many people as possible
and when you're sending out hundreds of thousands of
mailers personal service sort of goes out the window.]
