Isaiah 40:9

O Zion,
You who bring good tidings,
Get up into the high mountain;
O Jerusalem,
You who bring good tidings,
Lift up your voice with strength,
Lift it up, be not afraid;
Say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!"

Greetings Bible Enthusiast!

Some of you are wondering, "Why is it wrong to celebrate Jesus' birthday?"

There were two mentions of birthdays in the Bible. The Pharaoh had a birthday celebration at the time of Joseph, Genesis 40:20: "Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants." And Herod had a birthday celebration, Matthew 14:7, "But when Herod's birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod."

There does not seem to be any indication that celebrating birthdays is wrong. The problem is when the focus of the season shifts away from who Jesus is in our lives and what He has done for mankind.

God Bless You!

Christmas is celebrating God's love for mankind.

--FEATURED FUNNY:

I wondered if I could get my husband to address Christmas cards, as I had so much to do. I arranged everything we needed, then hopefully pulled up a chair and said, "Come on, Dear, let's get these out of the way."

He glanced at the array on the table, turned away and went into the den, only to return moments later with a high stack of cards, stamped, sealed, and addressed.

"They're last year's," he said. "I forgot to mail them. Now let's go out to dinner and relax. You've been working too hard."

--ANSWER TO TRIVIA QUESTION:

Q. What age of children did King Herod order to be killed when he realized the wise men had tricked him in his search for Jesus?

A. Two years and under.

Matthew 2:16

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.
