Luke 2:43-50

When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it...

Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking questions...

So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, "Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously."

And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?" But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.

Greetings Bible Enthusiast!

A reader wrote to ask how much validity should be given to extra-Biblical writings and doctrines. Can they be trusted? Should they be obeyed?

The answer is only if they line up with the teachings and doctrines in the Word of God. As quoted in the note of April 8th, Jesus said the Pharisees were "teaching as doctrines the commandments of men" just as people in Isaiah's day were. (Mark 7)

We are to test everything against the Bible and reject teachings that do not line up to the truths given there.

God Bless You!

--TODAY'S BIT OF WISDOM/REFLECTION:

"I find that doing the will of God leaves me with no time for disputing about His plans."

-George MacDonald

--FEATURED FUNNY:

The ninty-year-old woman was out of the room when the minister came to visit her in the nursing home. He began munching on a bowl of peanuts she had on a table. She came and apologized for not being there when he came in.

He said, "Oh that's all right, but I'm sorry I ate all of your peanuts."

"Oh, pastor, don't worry about that," she told him. "I really don't eat peanuts anyway. I just like to suck the chocolate off of them."

--ANSWER TO TRIVIA QUESTION:

Q. When did Joseph and Mary consummate their marriage?

A. after the birth of her firstborn Son

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit...

and he (Joseph) did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And she called His name Jesus.

Matthew 1:18&25

To "know one another" is a euphemism for sexual union.
