Matthew 2:10 & 11

When they [the wise men], saw the star, they rejoiced
with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into
the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother,
and fell down and worshiped Him."

Greetings Bible Enthusiast!

"I always thought that there were three wise men!" Maybe.
Despite Hollywood, traditional Christmas carols and the
ubiquitous nativity scene, we do not know how many wise men
there were. All we know for sure is that there were more than
one, as we see in the above scripture.

Almost all the traditional nativity scenes show the wise
men coming to the manger to worship the newborn Jesus, but
the Bible strongly indicates otherwise. The only reference
to the wise men is in Matthew, where they came to "the house"
not a manger, and saw "the young child" not an infant
(there are different words in Greek for infant and young
child). Also, Herod, after interrogating the wise men on
when the star appeared, had all the male children in
Bethlehem and surrounding areas, two years and under
killed. This indicates that Jesus may have been close
to two years old when the wise men visited them.

God Bless You!

My 50-something friend Nancy and I decided to introduce her
mother to the wonders of the Internet. Our first move was to
access the popular "Ask Jeeves" site, and we told her it
could answer any question she had.

Nancy's mother was very skeptical until Nancy said, "It's
true, Mom. Think of something to ask it."

As I sat with fingers poised over the keyboard, Nancy's
mother thought a minute, then responded, "How is Aunt Helen
feeling?"

--ANSWER TO TRIVIA QUESTION:

Q. Who was told that he would not see death before he had
seen the Lord's Christ?

A. Simeon

Luke 2:25-26

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was
Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the
Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that
he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
