Here's the Scoop...

I still have not seen 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice', and I don't plan to any time soon. But, with the announcement that Mr. Affleck will be making his own, stand-alone, Batman movie I still avoid BvS, but I'm all in for Batffleck: the Movie.

Ben Affleck confirmed to star in stand-alone Batman movie
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice star Ben Affleck is to headline and direct his own stand-alone Batman movie.

The Hollywood Reporter said Warner Bros. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Tsujihara confirmed the project Tuesday at CinemaCon.

"It set up a great foundation for our DC slate, which includes at least 10 movies through 2020," Tsuijhara said. "I'm also excited to know that we will be working with Ben Affleck on a stand-alone Batman movie."

Affleck reportedly is also contracted to appear as the character in two Justice League superhero ensemble pictures.


David Gest, 62, found dead in London hotel
American producer and reality star David Gest was found dead in a London hotel, a friend has confirmed. He was 62 years old.

In a statement released late Monday, Imad Handi established Gest as a "natural star and genuine celebrity," saying he had died in England on April 12.

"David was truly larger than life. He was not just a huge talent and a dear friend but a showbiz icon," Handi said.

"I know he will be missed by millions of fans around the world, and particularly in Britain, who came to love his charm and blistering one-liners."

According to a police statement obtained by BBC, Gest was discovered by authorities in the Four Seasons hotel in Canary Wharf Tuesday morning, local time. Police say they have not discovered reason to be suspicious of foul play.

"A post-mortem will be held in due course," the police statement continued. "Next of kin are in the process of being informed."

Gest, most recently a personality on Celebrity Big Brother, is the long estranged husband of singer Liza Minnelli, from whom he separated in 2003 after about a year of marriage.

Led Zeppelin to face trial over 'Stairway to Heaven' plagiarism claims
Led Zeppelin founders Jimmy Page and Robert Plant are heading to court over "Stairway to Heaven" plagiarism claims.

Los Angeles District Judge R. Gary Klausner ruled there are enough similarities between the band's 1971 hit and the Spirit song "Taurus" for Page and Plant to face trial May 10.

Michael Skidmore, a trustee for late Spirit guitarist Randy Wolfe, aka Randy California, sued Led Zeppelin for copyright infringement in 2014 on behalf of Wolfe's estate. Skidmore claims Page copied the "Stairway to Heaven" guitar line from "Taurus."

"While it is true that a descending chromatic four-chord progression is a common convention that abounds in the music industry, the similarities here transcend this core structure," Klausner said in his ruling Friday.

Skidmore believes Page and Plant heard "Taurus" when Led Zeppelin opened for Spirit in 1968 and later appropriated the song for "Stairway to Heaven." Page and Plant claim to have written the song in a remote cottage in Wales.

"A lot of songs written by Led Zeppelin were written by other artists and other bands," Skidmore's attorney, Francis Malofiy, said. "They failed to give credit where credit was due."

"Taurus" was copyrighted in 1967, while "Stairway to Heaven" was released in 1971. The latter track is considered by many to be one of the greatest rock songs of all time and had earned an estimated $528 million as of 2008.

Which 'Bring It On' star broke up with Garrett Hedlund after four years together?

Hollywood couple Kirsten Dunst and Garrett Hedlund recently ended their four-year romance.

E! News reported the split Tuesday, but did not reveal a reason for it.

The breakup comes as something of a surprise since the Midnight Special actress and Pan actor appeared happy together when spotted at the 2016 Golden Globes in January.
