Beauty Trends for 2010
This year is sure to be a refreshing year in terms of fashion
and beauty. The spring/summer and fall/winter beauty trends
for 2010 are always based on New York Fashion Week. Some of
them, at least, are going to be somewhat familiar to you.
Let?s look at them by season and break them down from there.
Since spring and summer are fast approaching, let us look at
what we can be doing to prepare ourselves for the warm weather.
First take a look at your hair and makeup. This spring and
summer think about the natural look; flawless skin, a touch of
mascara with bare lips but with pops of color. A make up must
have for the warmer weather is purple eye shadow. Casually
pulled back hair will be all the rage this coming season
whether it is in a low bun or a loose chignon. Also hot are
long wavy tresses in keeping with the natural look.
Another beauty trend for 2010 will be in the accessories
department in the form of bright colors. Blue will reappear
this spring in the bright shade of turquoise. This color will
be seen in accessories like jewelry, handbags and light weight
jackets. Bowties are going to be another dainty accessory
staple.
Thanks to the popularity of the maxi dress last spring and
summer, this year designers are taking that trend by storm
with long skirts. These skirts are going to hit anywhere from
right below the knee all the way to grazing the ground. Another
airy addition to the runway this spring and summer are sheer
shirts. These can be worn with a camisole underneath for a
wispy look or for a more risqu? look, your most fabulous bra.
For the more casual look patchwork denim is back on the radar.
Fall and winter strutted the catwalk with starry makeup; think
shimmery greys, golds and blues with red hot lips as a nod to
the current vampire trend. Hairstyles were highlighted with
chunks of hair color in all shades of the rainbow; a coming
beauty trend for 2010 will be somewhat of a gothic or
rebellious kid look. Still hot for the fall and winter are
blunt bangs and as a nice surprise bigger, curly hair was on
the line up.
Accessories are trends from past that have been revived into
a more modern look. Thigh highs are reappearing this fall but
in sock form along with white tights and chunky knit leggings.
Grunge accessories are also a repeating theme in fall lines.
Jewelry will be heavy and layered. Returning this fall will be
black leather jackets and black leather vests.
Colors that you will see throughout just about every line are
camel brown and oxblood red.
Wardrobe staples are going to be turtlenecks only this time
with a more modern twist. Another must have is either a cape
or a poncho as many designers finished off their lines with
these cozy cover ups.
As a nod to the 80?s patchwork, graffiti pants, and pleated
minis are back and better than ever. Also included in the 80?s
trend is the cropped sweater but made more 2010 by adding it
to the current layered trend to add a new dimension to last
year?s staple.
Trends come and trends go but one thing is certain, once they
leave the runway they are sure to reappear again. Based on
this cycle, you should not dare toss those leggings or consign
that tunic as it will be back in a few years and yours will be
the best thing going because then it will be considered
'vintage couture'.
