October 15, 2010

Greetings...

Flyboy and I were talking the other day and he was telling me about
certain pilots that he has flown with that are...how do I put this...
PIGS!

What makes them pigs? The fact that they cheat on their wives while
they are on the road would be the main reason. The other reason is
they remove their wedding rings as soon as they start their trips...

This made me think about it. Not the cheating bit because at this
point with infidelity running rampant and the media filled with
daily stories about celebrities and sports figures getting caught,
it's not that surprising that a pilot's reputation usually includes
infidelity because of the ease and opportunity the job itself creates...

The thing that got me thinking was the removal of the wedding ring
and people's perception of that symbol of marriage...

Does wearing it make a person, male or female, stay faithful? Does
removing it make the cheater feel less guilty or is it to attract
someone who might view the ring as a "hands off" sign?

Do married men and women expect their partners to wear the ring to
keep others away or do they view it as a way to "mark their territory"
so to speak?

There are a lot of people who don't wear their wedding rings for various
reasons. Some jobs are hampered by jewelry. Some men don't like to wear
rings...

In my opinion, the relationship is the issue, not the ring and if a
partner is paranoid enough to worry about whether or not either one
is wearing their wedding ring, then there's a good chance there are
other issues that give them reasons for their paranoia...

People who wear their rings cheat. People who don't wear their rings
stay faithful. It's not the symbol of marriage, it's the character
of the ring wearer...

A question for both men and women...

How important is wearing a wedding ring to you? Maybe a better question
would be, how important is it for your partner to wear theirs?

:-)

Have a great weekend everyone!
