Greetings...

Tyler Clementi was an 18-year-old freshman for three weeks at Rutgers
University. Tyler was intelligent, an accomplished violinist and
looking ahead to an education and a bright future. His future came to
a sad and abrupt end when he threw himself off the George Washington Bridge
after dropping his wallet on the bridge for identification purposes...

Tyler was someone's child, someone's friend, someone's student, and
sadly, someone's target...

Tyler Clementi was Gay...

Tyler Clementi took his own life because his college roomate and a
friend of the roommate decided it would be "funny" to secretly film
Tyler having sex with another male and distribute it all over the Internet,
which humiliated Tyler to the point he could not cope and ended his life...

Prank or hate crime? The two students responsible for the video have, so
far, been charged with invasion of privacy and may be charged with a hate
crime as the investigation continues. Small solace for Tyler's family and
even Tyler's memory itself. There is a much bigger issue here and one that
will bring every religious zealot out of the woodwork armed with their
version of "the book". Save yourself carpal tunnel and pray that you never
have to go through the agony that Tyler and his parents have gone through
because of being different or not a cookie cutter mold of hypocrites...

This isn't, or shouldn't be a religious issue, anyone who has their faith
and beliefs are free to believe and practice as they wish. That being
said, those freedoms DO NOT give anyone else the right to inflict harm,
ridicule, or prevent rights that are freely given to others. Too many
groups in the U.S alone have fought for rights whether it be women getting
the vote, abolishing slavery, or having the freedom to worship, no matter
what religious affiliation you belong to...

If being Gay is an "abomination" and people want to use that argument as
their cornerstone of their "cause", I would remind those people that the
Ten Commandments are filled with laws that straight people have been
breaking since the beginning of the laws. Why is being Gay more important
than "Though Shalt Not Kill, Though Shalt Not commit Adultery, Steal, and
so on and so on?

Because humans are hypocrites and dangerous ones...

Fight for our country, but don't you dare be Gay and if you are...

Don't ask, don't tell...When is the last time you heard that a band of
Gay soldiers went on a "raping and pillaging" spree against their own
or the countries they were in? Do the research, the Heterosexuals have
been hauled in for these crimes at an alarming rate...

Being a Chrisian, a Jew, a Muslim or any other religious affiliation is
a choice, being Gay is not and those who scream from the pulpit that
fire and damnation is the consequence for Homosexuality seem to be getting
caught with their pants down quite a bit lately...

Hypocrites...

With a divorce rate of over 50%, don't tell me how "holy" a union between
a man and a woman is, statistics show otherwise. I don't intend to go
from being a Heterosexual to a Homosexual no matter what law is in effect
and I don't understand why those rights can't be shared by all citizens...

A Gay couple isn't going to turn a child into a Homosexual unless you
believe every stereotype that prevents common sense and rational thinking.
I'd worry more about a child that is raised in a Heterosexual household
with a physically abusive parent. That cycle of behavior can continue
in tht child. No biggee, as long as the kid doesn't "turn" Gay right?

In such a diverse society, just which group should be the group that
determines how all of us should be? Be careful how you answer because
you may not be part of the group that is "allowed"

Tyler Clementi, remember that name and remember why he died, and if you
can honestly say he deserved it, then let me know which "group" you
belong to so I can make sure I am never accidentally affiliated with
that group...

Rest In Peace Tyler...
