Greetings...

I realize the new archives haven't been easy to either access or comment
on and I have been going back and forth with the office trying to find out
what is going on,. Until then, I will continue to update the blog postings for

all of you to comment on until the archives are running smoothly...

The blog link is anythinggoes.gophercentral.com

The new archive link is...

Today, I have a question that some of you may be able to answer. I have
been wondering about something and although it isn't a big deal, it's
one of those curious things that I have noticed...

If you happen to go into any store that sells television sets, you
will notice the size of the screens getting bigger and bigger with
all kinds of high tech features that people salivate over...

If you happen to be in the market for a new stereo system, you will find
surround sound and speakers that are able to give your home and ears
theatre
-like sound and for guys, the louder the better!

*

So, here's why I'm curious...

With all of the technology and interest in the "bigger and better" market
of audio and video, can someone please tell me why people are also rushing
out to buy phones with tiny screens with the intention of watching movies,
podcasts and videos of any and everything else that would give most people
eye strain???

I understand, to a degree, why people would want an Ipod to workout with
or have the ability to listen to music and not disturb others while
listwening, but I have been near people that are listening to their Ipods
and I can hear the music loud and clear which makes me wonder what kind of
hearing damage is being done to everyone listening to them on a regular
basis...

Do people buy expensive stereo systems for their homes and even listen
to them anymore? I'm the only one in our family who doesn't have an Ipod
and that's by choice. I crank the stereo on high when no one is home and
I'm cleaning, and I'm not about to watch a movie on my phone when I have
a TV I can see across the room...

I realize there's a "cool factor" in these gadgets that do almost everything
imaginable, but I seriously wonder about vision and hearing problems due to
some of these technological "advances"...

And one last "rant", if you will...

3D...Cool in it's own right, but now there are TV's you can buy that have
the feature built in. Do I want to wear special glasses to watch TV? NO...

Do I want to see every new movie that comes out in 3D? No...

Oh well, sometimes this stuff just pops into my head and you're the "lucky"
people that get to listen to the ponderings that are a result of it...

:-)
