December 30, 2009

Greetings...

Boy, I don't know if you're like me right now, but I don't know,
(and haven't known), the day and date since Thanksgiving. In fact,
I'm still fuzzy on what the date was on that day, but recall it's
always on a Thursday...

The holidays always throw me for a loop when it comes to knowing
what day it is. Everyone's schedule is so different, kids are
home from school, things are open and closed at all hours of the
day and night and everyone ends up with the look that can only
be compared to as "The Zombie look"...

Maybe you have or havn't seen it, but it kind of looks like this.
You see people, (or the reflection in a mirror), of a person with
a faraway look, a glazed stare, and bags under the eyes that would
make UPS think they're ready for pick-up...

The Zombie look starts to develop around Thanksgiving and continues
to get "enhanced" day by day as the upcoming holiday season gets
closer and closer...

The planning, the shopping, the cooking and baking, the parties,
and the entertaining all help to create this Zombie look and given
the stress of the economy, the financial part of the season only
adds to the "look". The lack of sleep and rest only help maintain =

the look...

It takes quite a while to get rid of the Zombie look, but it does
go away and leave something in its place. And that would be...

The Pillsbury Dough Boy look". That's the look that is created by
tight pants and tops due to all the above mentioned holiday festivites =

that start around Thanksgiving and wind down after the first of the
New Year. Women panic and men make a promise that they will do something=

about it...

After Super Bowl weekend...

So, what plans do you have to end the old year and welcome the new year=

in? Will you be staying in and watching the festivities on TV, going
out, having a gathering in your home, or letting the new year enter
quietly and without fanfare?

We won't be doing anything special on New Year's Eve. Flyboy and I are =

just happy he will be home, which makes it special in itself, and since=

we will be leaving early the next day for my son's wedding in Vegas,
the week has been crazy enough without adding to the "crazy". It's sa=
fe
to assume the boys will be out since they are 20 and 22...

We give them "the talk" before they leave the house and as every pare=
nt,
worry until they get home and hope they pay attention to the words you =

used when talking to them...

Since I already had the experience raising kids, I gave Flyboy a little=

advice on what seems to work the best...

After they are done tuning out everything you have said, wait a minute an=
d
give them the sentence that always seemed to work...

"Have a good time and remember I have no bail money"...

Worked like a charm...

Happy New Year!!!

:-)
