April 5, 2010

Greetings...

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. Getting older doesn't really
bother me because the way I look at it is...

Waking up every morning a day older sure beats not waking up at all! =

I wasn't sure on Friday what I was going to do for the day since
no one was going to be around. It was the perfect opportunity to
use the day to be selfish and pamper myself...

I went and got a manicure and pedicure, got a haircut, came home and
fixed the haircut, (still have't found anyone that wasn't taught to
cut hair by Edward Scissorhands). Later in the day, I went and had
a relaxing massage, stopped at Starbucks on the way home and indulged
in a calorie laden White Chocolate Mocha...

Took a hot bath and put on the other comfortable, but ratty pair of
pj pants and t-shirt that will have to be tossed as soon as I get
over the mourning period of throwing my favorite sleep shirt away.

I lazed around taking time out to answer dozens of birthday calls and
by the end of the day, which seemed to fly by, I looked back at the
day with a smile on my face, which no doubt, created a new wrinkle,
but it was all good!

The Latest Innovation In Nail Care...

Normal Price: $14.99
DEAL PRICE: $5.99 for two -- Get Two Sets (4 files) $9.98

Crystal Glass nail files are the perfect solution for shaping
both natural and artificial nails. The files are very gentle
on the natural nail and with regular use can help prevent
splitting and peeling and they give a lovely smooth finish.

Extremely hygienic... unlike other nail files, the Crystal
Glass nail file is not porous and cannot absorb water and
create an environment for disease (bacterial or fungal). Plus
they can be disinfected, boiled or sterilized by any known means
or simply washed under hot running water.

Mostly you're going to love how they provide a smoother filing
process. NO MORE JAGGED EDGES...

Great for acrylic nails and in the place of a pumice stone. These
files feature two levels of abrasion.

I have to tell you a little story that also happened over the weekend. =

It's one of those things that made me shake my head and I don't even
know what the real feeling is behind the head shaking...

I guess I'll just spit the story out and see if anyone else shakes
their head after reading it...

Saturday night, I was on Facebook talking to a very dear friend. She
and I grew up together and have been as close as sisters. She lives in =

Utah. She posted a status update that she was getting ready to become
a grandmother again and her daughter went into labor and had left for
the hospital four hours before. She was at home watching her grandson
and waiting for word that his new little sister was going to be born...=

A bunch of us posted back and forth our congrats, comments, etc. Someone=

asked if a name had been chosen and she typed the name for all of us. Not=

30 seconds later, a post shows up with the message...

"Mom, you spelled the name wrong, it's an "e" not an "a"...

Huh?

I type...

"Whoaaaaaaaaaa there, are you hooked up to a baby monitor AND a laptop?=
"

She answered that she had an Epidural and has a Blackberry...

She continued to be a part of the conversation for the next 40 minutes =

and I kept shaking my head as I was talking to everyone. The husband
piped in a few times on his Blackberry and I have to admit, I kept
waiting for the baby to come out and type...

"I'm hereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"...

I guess I just want to know if I'm the only one that found this to be
more than a little weird? I have written many times about the technology=

today and the unending need to have everyone know every move one makes =

24/7, but this one really reinforced my thought process on the subject...=

I mean, really...You're in the hospital, you're in labor, and you and
your husband are on Facebook????

I'm surprised hubby didn't use the camera option on the phone and post =

video of the whole process!!!

Labor is something you never forget and while I remember not caring
who came into the room during the last stages of labor including the
janitor or a window washer, I can't imagine screwing up my priorities
like this on a public forum so to speak...

And the most ironic thing of this?

The baby's arrival was never posted, although she was born a few hours =

later. Granted, I already knew but what prevented posting the "end resu=
lt"?

Privacy Issues? (sarcasm). Dead battery?

So, am I looking at this in an old-fashioned way?

And no cracks about me being a year older...
