Greetings...

In the TV world of reality shows, there's a new one that may surprise
you. Last week, Sunset Daze, a reality show about senior citizens
living in the retirement community of Sun City, Arizona made its way
to the airwaves...

Sun City is well-known for its large population of retired seniors
that move there from all over the country, and in some cases, out
of the country...

I haven't watched the show and probably won't, but I have to say, I'm
all for giving the senior set their own show, even if it may make
the younger viewers uncomfortable or "catty" because everyone knows=

the younger generation invented sex, drama, and humor...

Because it is a TV show, I'm sure there will be "created" drama to =

invite viewers to tune in week after week, and I'm sure some of the
residents/cast of the show will be older stereotypes of younger
reality show characters. The lovable one, the pain in the butt ones,
and the ones you love to hate...

I doubt they will spend too much, if any time on showing the financial =

issues seniors today have to deal with because the area the show takes =

place in isn't exactly distressed financially, not to say there arent
people living there with money issues...

Whether or not this show becomes successful, I applaud the effort
of giving people the option of seeing another side of life that
includes aging and life after "puberty", life without mandatory
plastic surgery, and life that still includes emotions, love, and
the fears of aging...

From 1985-1992, The Golden girls, a sitcom about four retired women
living together was a huge hit and is still a fan favorite in reruns.
It has also become a gay cult classic. While the cast were professional=

actors, and the writes for the show brilliant, the premise of the show =

is what made it as popular as it was/is. I don't expect Sunset Daze
to do as well and it may not even get renewed, but I'm cheering them
on from the other side of the Valley where I live...

So, what do you think about a reality show featuring senior citizens?
Good idea, bad idea?
