RELAX... It's Easy With The Tush-eez Cushion...
http://pd.gophercentral.com/u/1060/c/186/a/25

May 10, 2010

Greetings...

I hope all the moms had a nice Mother's Day yesterday. I had a great
day, although I didn't see my boys. They both called me and Dizzy
was going to come over, but we were on our way out and by the time
we got home and I called him, he was down with food poisoning! Flypup=

sent me a beautiful card, but it wasn't the card that brought tears to =

my eyes, but his hand written words and sentiments...

Flyboy is on vacation this week and has promised to look at the things =

I have written on the "Honey Do" list. I have full confidence that he=

WILL look at it, we'll just have to wait and see what he does after
he looks at it...

As usual, I have plenty of little projects planned around here, but
the final big one has been going on since last Wednesday. We're having =

solar installed on the roof. This is something we have thought about
for a while and decided this was a good time to do it because of all
the incentives given for going with solar power...

There are pleny of reasons to do it, with the number one reason in
Arizona being...

Out of 365 days a year, it is sunny 360 of those days and heck, even
on the other five days, the sun usually peaks out, even if it's for
a short while...

Instead of draining power from the grid, you are actually putting power=

back into the grid...

The government as well as the power company gives all kinds of rebates =

to help with the expensive cost of the systems...

And last, but not least...We are tired of paying $600.00 electric bills=

for three air conditioners from May to October. The savings alone should=

pay for itself within a few years...

The electricians started on Wednesday putting all the wiring on the roof=

and will finish putting the solar panels on today. They will then install=

their own solar meter which is installed next to the regular electric
meter. The power company's meter showing our usage will rotate the way =

it always has and charge what it always has, but...and this is the best =

part...

As our solar system generates its own power, that meter will rotate the=

opposite direction which shows how much power we are selling BACK to
our local electric company. It's hard to say right now what the differenc=
e
will be, but we know our monthly bills will be substancially less since=

we'll be producing power from the time the sun rises until it sets...

I can't understand why Arizona isn't a totally solar state with the
amount of sunshine here. I realize most people would love to have
solar, but financially can't afford to do it. Wouldn't it have been
a good idea to build homes with the system years ago before Arizona
grew to the point it is now? All new homes could have, at least,
offered the option along with all the other upgrades they offer...

People moving here from other states don't realize the cost of using
the air conditoners 24/7 for months on end. Most states, even when it
gets hot in the daytime, cool off at night to the point your air shuts =

off once in a while.

Not in Arizona. In June, July, and August, at midnight, after midnight, =

3 A.M. (you get the picture), the temperature is still over 100 degrees.=

During the Summer, one, two or all three of my air conditoners is always=

running, and trust me, it's not because I like my house cold, I don't...=

Although...When the boys are home for the Summer, you can go upstairs. =

and almost see your breath! The thermostat is showing 68 degrees and =

no one ever "fesses up" as to who it was that lowered it to that
temperature...

It's one of those miraculous occurences I guess, There's the Shroud
of Turin, and The Frost at Flyboy's...

So...That's the new project and hopefully, the last big one for a while=

We were told everything should be up and running in a few weeks because=

the system has to be inspected by the power company, the city building =

inspector, yada, yada yada...

But the "ironic" good news?

The Homeowner's Association has NO say in this. It is illegal for them =

to ban or not allow any homeowner from having solar power installed... =

Hahahaha, that was worth doing in itself!!!

Just call me...Sunshine

:-)
