Greetings...

There's a rule of thought when it comes to Texas. The thought is that
it's a state you don't want to break the law in. Texas is a state known
for strict treatment of criminals...

A 16-year-old girl found out that you don't want to mess with a parent
who lives in Texas!

The teen violated her curfew and her parents handed out a unique punishment.
Her father and stepmother took out an ad in the local paper offering their
daughter's services as a babysitter...

Curfew is a big deal in this house and the otherwise good kid, a National
Honor Society student will probably never duplicate her offense. She was
embarrassed when she heard about her parent's stunt and had no clue and
felt the humiliation was worse than the crime...

The ad was written and worded as if the girl had written it herself and
because they included a picture of their daughter, who is a very pretty
girl, they took precautions and carefully screened the babysitting requests...

I, personally think they shouldn't have put their kid's picture in the paper
in this day and age of predators...

Originally, her parents were going to offer her services to a community
service project. But when that fell through, they went with babysitting...

The "sentence" is 30 hours of free babysitting and as of last weekend, she
has completed half of her community babysitting service...

I don't know what your thoughts on this are, but I applaud the parents for
taking a stand and not only setting rules for their kid, but enforcing
punishment when the rules were broken instead of not following through
like so many parents do or don't do today...

Will the kid break the rules again? The fact that they have a teenager
tells you it's probably a given, but don't you think she will think
real hard before doing anything really bad because of the possible
consequences her parents may cook up in their heads?

Premarital sex...

Must live with Octomom and brood for a week...

Tattoo before the age of 18...

Mandatory "I love my stepmom" tattoo...

Tongue piercing before the age of 18...

Must wear a hat and t-shirt that says, "I talk like Elmer Fudd"...

This brings to mind the story a few years ago, which I also wrote about.
A young boy got caught stealing and his mother made him walk up and
down the street with a sandwich board telling everyone about his crime.
I sure would love to know if he learned his leasson and what he's doing
now...

The other thought that crossed my mind when I read this story was the
fact that the girl is 16 and lives with her dad and stepmom. Whadya
bet she broke curfew when dad was gone???

Just typing out loud again folks!!!

:-)
