Greetings...

Since the beginning of time, (not that I'm THAT old), there have

According to a study, the unhappiness of men in general gives them
the sad distinction of being four times more likely to commit suicide
than women and although factors such as genetics, upbringing and even =

When it comes to the stress and sadness of the end of their marriage,
women have shown to be able to handle it better and without the same
statistic of suicide as men. This isn't just a problem in the U.S.
Among industrialized nations, those with the highest divorce rates
among men also have the highest suicide rates. The lowest suicide rates=

are married men and single men, (never married), fall in the middle... =


A study published last year in Social Science Quarterly, concluded that =

men who are divorced are 39 percent more likely to commit suicide than =

those still married. The difference increases to 50 percent when a man =

is a widower...

I don't know about your thoughts on this, but I personally believe the =

study, and of course, I'll tell you why. While men may have a love/hate=

relationship with the thought of marriage, the "comfort" of it is =

another story. I know the next sentence will irk a few and label me
sexist, but the truth of the matter is that males, from the time they
are very little, get used to females fawning over them, nurturing them,=

taking care of them, and in some cases, "worshipping" them. For years=

I have always said something that will probably make you cringe, but
that's my job, so here's what I always say...

Men want their mothers with sex, definitely not to be confused with
wanting sex with their mothers...

I think most men want that someone home with them, even if they may
not want to talk to them! Women do "alone" much better than men and=

relish their alone time because it is probably the only time they
can selfishly devote that time to themselves doing what they want,
or just doing "nothing", which is a rare luxury for most women...

I also believe that monogamy isn't part of this either. Men may fool
around and use the "my wife doesn't understand me" bit with the women=

they are having the affair with, but it usually has nothing to do with =

his wife and a ploy to gain sympathy and a roll in the hay from the
woman he's trying to "conquer". Even men that are serial cheaters
rarely leave their wives and it's the wives of these cheaters that
are more apt to do the dumping. She may not be in a hurry to remarry
after the divorce, but a man will usually do what he can to remarry
much sooner after a divorce than a woman...

The same goes for a widow vs a widower. A widower is lost without his
wife and will find another wife as soon as possible, and if he doesn't,=

he usually passes quicker than a widow will after she loses her spouse...=


A widow, on the other hand, may remarry, but in years and years of doing=

the hair of older women who were widows, I found that they never remarrie=
d
and as much as they loved and missed their husband, they enjoyed their ne=
wly
found "freedom". The freedom I am talking about is the freedom to not=

cook if they didn't want to, go out with their female friends without
worrying that their husband would either get mad or starve to death if =

they didn't get home quickly, clean their house and still have it clean=

a week later because they picked up after themselves and only themselves,=

did a load of laundry once a week, go to a casino with their friends
and not worry about their husbands standing over their shoulder asking =

them why they are playing the way they are playing or making them go home=

before they are ready, (OK, that happens at ANY age....ahem)...

Argue with what I said above, but trust me, this comes from many years =

of hearing this and even hearing it with my own mother who, after losing=

my dad at the young age of 51 and basically sitting in a chair for a
little over a year because she was so depressed, expressed some of the =

things I just wrote. The difference is, she felt to guilty saying it unti=
l
years later...

And, because I'm not truly happy unless I leave you with something that=

Statistically, everyone knows that women usually outlive men. I have
always wondered if that is God's way of giving the little woman a few
years of peace before she bites the dust...
