Greetings...

As I have done in over ten years of writing columns, I sometimes
get an idea for a topic based on a conversation I have had with
someone. Today is no different and that "someone" is my darling
husband, Flyboy...

The conversation came after I happened to pass by him sitting in
the recliner. I bent over and gave him a kiss on his head, an
area that used to have hair on it. Notice I said, "used to"...

He tipped his head back, gave me a kiss and said, "Aw, you love me
even if I am losing my hair"...

I laughed and said, "That's because I'm a woman and women are much
more accepting of their partner's aging and imperfections"...

I knew I would get some kind of reaction and waited for the "that's
not true" answer, but I was mistaken. Instead, I got...

I believe it based on several factors. Men are visual creatures and
based on the fact that studies have shown that men think of sex roughly=

5 gazillion times a day, they can look at a female and immediately
think of sex. Women, on the other hand can see a good looking man and
admire him for his good looks without thinking of sex...

In most cases, when women love, they love with their heart, no matter =

what the object of their affection looks like. It's more of a mental
thing that is attractive to us, not to say that having a hunk to go
with that mental thing is a bad thing. ...

THe media is much less forgiving on females than males and while
Sean Connery may still get a romantic interest and one with a
woman much younger, you won't see Betty White getting a romantic
lead with Brad Pitt. If that WERE to happen, she would be given
the new name for women involved with younger men and that would
be, of course, Cougar...

OK, maybe Betty White would be called Grandma Cougar...

Is there a name for an older guy dating or marrying a young chick?
Yeah, "old fool", but it's always a "Golddigger" status for the=

female. But I digress...

The media tells our guys that we must be perfect in a world of imperfect.=

They don't get to see their "perfect women" without their makeup, =

without their plastic surgery, with their stretchmarks, PMS, and
menopause. This all causes men to become much more judgemental against =

women, women they meet and know in particular...

Sure, there are women that are just as judgemental and superficial, but=

something tells me that their personalities have a few other flaws...

I believe most women don't care if their husbands gain some weight or
start to lose their hair, and I'll go one further, I believe most women=

can and do fall in love with a less than perfect man because they give =

the opposite sex more of a chance to get to know them...

Am I saying that all men would never fall in love with someone that is =

not too attractive? Of course not, I'm saying that women are more forgivi=
ng
to the imperfections men may have or get along the way...

So, what do YOU think? Is beauty truly in the eye of the beholder? This=

reminds me of a phrase I once heard, (I think Flyboy actually is the one=

who said it to me)...

"For every drop dead gorgeous woman out there, there's some guy who is=

sick of her Sh*t"...
