Greetings...

We took Ginger to the Orthopedic surgeon yesterday because we felt
she wasn't getting any better although the pain seemed to be gone.
It turned out to be one of those good news/bad news deals...

The good news is that she doesn't have any broken bones, hairline
fractures, or bone chips that is causing her problem, which means
she won't be needing surgery to the tune of 3-4 thousand dollars...

The bad news is that the Ultrasound showed she has a torn ligament
on her upper bicep, for which there is no treatment for now and she
may end up limping forever because it may never heal to 100%. The
surgeon said she shouldn't have any problems other than that...

Of course we're hoping she beats the odds on that one...

We have to give her massages three times a day and apply moist heat
to the area three times a day. She's also not allowed to run, jump,
use the dog door,chase rabbits etc. etc. Six to eight weeks....Oh boy, =

this is going to be fun...

With the holidays approaching, we'll have to cut down on anything that =

causes her to get excited...

The other good news is that Moosie didn't do it and she more than likely=

slipped on the freshly watered lawn after running at breakneck speed...=

We had to leave her for the day so they could do a battery of tests
and picked her up eight hundred dollars later...

She came home in pain from all the prodding and manipulations and
it breaks my heart to watch her be out of sorts for now...

Although the bad news is bad news, its certainly better than the
alternative and the way she has been able to run a little on three
legs tells me she should be OK in time...

She's been real good about staying quiet because her body is obviously =

telling her to do so...

This is all bad news for Moosie because...

The Moose has been bored out of her mind and nothing is more dangerous =

than a bored Great Dane! There are many stories of bored Great Danes =

that devour a whole sofa and use a loose thread as dental floss!

She wants to play with Ginger and literally throws a temper tantrum
when Ginger won't "engage". What kind of temper tantrum you may ask?=


She huffs and puffs air out of her nostrils and mouth, heads over to the=

couch, throws herself at it, (yes, I said AT it), slides down the couch =

to the floor, makes all sorts of vocal displeasure noises, and bats the =

couch and floor with those industrial strength paws...

We're sympathetic despite our hysterical laughing, which only ticks her=

off more!

Flyboy decided he better do something to alleviate her boredom AND attitu=

and took her out to play and wear her out. Poor guy came in needing a
nap and Moosie came in long enough to wait for him to go back outside. =

When that didn't happen, she headed back to the couch to show us she
still had energy to burn. The couch moved a few inches and Ginger just =

stared at her sister, with a look that made you wonder if she was thinkin=
g...

"I wonder if they have Great Dane psychiatrists, I may be hurt, but at =
least
I'm not nutzzzzzzzzzzzz"...
