The Twister Car Performs Twists, Stunts, and Wheelies...

November 1, 2010

Greetings...

Halloween was pretty uneventful yesterday. Each year there are less
and less children trick or treating and that makes me sad. Not because
I didn't get interrupted a hundred times while eating dinner...

It makes me sad because it is yet, another thing that seems to be
gradually going away for various reasons from safety concerns to
a general feeling that it's a waste of time...

I often wonder if kids could get away from "being cool" for an hour
and go back to a time when their parents and grandparents lived, if
they would not only see, but wish they could have as much fun as we
all had without any of the "stuff" they have today...

We didn't have cell phones and our moms couldn't call or text us to
find out where we were, they usually had an idea and if they didn't,
they screamed our names out the front door like a Banshee, which to
this day can be heard in my ear's memory banks. No big deal, we came
a running. If you were younger, your curfew was when the street lights
turned on, if you were a little older, you could be out when it was
dark playing with your friends. How sad for kids that so many dangers
lurk that have created kids that rarely play outdoors or get enough
exercise to burn off the fattening crap we ate without worry...

Oh well, sorry to put my "sentimental tour" in print. I guess it's just
that I was feeling sorry for today's kids. Of course, I still believe
they are a generation of brats, but it really isn't their fault is it?

OK, before I go, I know I can't be the only one who is sick to death of
all the political ads, robo calls and nasty, nasty campaigning that is
finally about to end with tomorrow's elections...

Talk about sad... You can excuse, to a degree, a child's bad behavior, but
to see adults saying and doing what they have been doing for months is
beyond comprehension. I don't care which party anyone is affiliated with,
there's enough "nasty" to go around. Not to be outdone by nasty, violent
has also been a part of this year's political arena...

If I had my way, no one on either side campaigning would be allowed to
stay on the ticket if they or their camps engaged in this type of
campaigning. Weed them ALL out and in fact, how about an IQ test before
allowing them to run in the first place!!!

Oh well, the more things change, the more they stay the same...
