Greetings...
I just read something that is one of those things that puts a "burr
in my butt". I have a feeling it will have the same effect on most of
you...
For years, I have been ranting about the abuses within our welfare system.
What started out as a good idea many moons ago has been riddled with
abuses and the creation of a lifestyle passed on from generation to
generation. The bill for all of this has been paid by those of us who
pay into the system year after year and for those who have legitimately
needed help from the government, they have run into red tape nightmares
while abusers continue to milk the system...
What is it that has my ire today?
Welfare benefits are being used in casinos in california and Michigan!!!
Checks are no longer issued to welfare recipients in the U.S. ATM/Debit
cards are issued and the benefits are automatically "loaded" on the card
each month. It's a great idea and removes the risk of checks getting lost
in the mail or fraudulently stolen and cashed...
HOWEVER...
These cards work like any other ATM/Debit card and are to be used to
purchase food, necessities, etc. for the welfare recipient and their
family...
It has been reported that these cards are being used in casinos in the
two states I mentioned and if it's any indication, I'll bet other casinos
in other states will come to the same conclusion...
HOW DARE THEY????
No one likes a casino more than I, but I certainly don't expect taxpayers
to foot the bill for my casino trips and that's exactly what we're being
asked to do for these low-lifes that are literally taking food out
of their family's mouths to have a rip roaring good time!!!
Something should be done immediately to prevent these cards from being
used in ANY casino in the country and at the first sign of abuse, all
benefits should be cancelled. Each card has a monthly printout of where
these cards have been used and it should be very easy to get to the bottom
of this and find out who is abusing the system and the taxpayers...
This bothered me so much that I have sent an email to our Governor for
what it's worth because we have so many casinos here in Arizona, I'll bet
this isn't a problem only in california and Michigan...
For those who don't think it matters or doesn't affect them, think again...
Would you rather support someone who doesn't have a job, but has plenty
of time to gamble, while you sit at home and budget your own good time
outing, or take a few minutes to do what it takes to get this problem
looked into and possibly stop it before it becomes a billion dollar
burden on our backs???
If you have a welfare system in your state that issues ATM/Debit cards
and you have local casinos, chances are it's already happening...
