December 21, 2009

Greetings...

I hope those of you who had to battle the "mutha" of snowstorms over=

the weekend are safe and sound. A NorEaster brought a bushel of snow
over the Northeast. In fact, areas not used to a lot of snow got
hammered with 20+ inches of that white, fluffy, COLD stuff that
people like me don't miss and shiver while watching it on the news...

Travel around the country was at a standstill, leaving holiday travelers=

either stranded, or unable to get to their destination. Flyboy was "luc=
ky"
enough to be flying passengers around some of these areas and because a=

few airports in the East were shut down because of the snowstorm, he had=

a lot of "fun" darting around weather fronts, delays and one unruly=

passenger who had to be escorted off the plane when he landed...

I know you're dying to know what happened and truthfully, it's So stupid,=

or should I say the passenger was so stupid for not following rules,
which according to the FAA, is an offense punishable by a trip to the
local police station and/or worse...

Here goes...

Passengers are allowed to bring "comfort" animals on the plane. What=

is a comfort animal? It can be a seeing eye dog, or any animal that
the passenger "needs" to prevent anxiety. This policy has been "pus=
hed"
by passengers on a few occasions. One guy brought on a comfort RABBIT =

and because this is the land of PC, you can't question their needs OR
motives...

Anyhoo...

A rather obnoxious woman brought her small pooch and sat in the front. =

During the flight she got up to go to the restroom and started to take =

her dog with. The flight attendant immediatley stopped her and told her=

she couldn't take Rover in the bathroom with her and explained it was
against several rules including a health department rule. The woman
gave her lip and sat back down...

She waited until the flight attendant went to the back of the plane to =

help with snack service and dashed into the front lavatory with Rover in=

hand. The man that happened to be sitting next to this woman is a VERY =

frequent flier to the point he has actually been in a few Southwest Airli=
ne's
advertisements...

He got upset that Rover went into the bathroom and told the flight attend=
ant
that not only did the lady take the pooch in there, but that he would be =

looking for another airline to fly because dogs shouldn't be allowed in=

the bathrooms. (I agree, get a life dude, you heard the flight attendant=

tell her it wasn't allowed, it's not her fault the sneaky lady snuck in=

there)...

When she came out of the bathroom, she was met by the flight attendant an=
d
told to get back into her seat and told her she had broken the law. She c=
alled
the cockpit and spoke to Captain Flyboy, told him what happened, and he =

radio'd ahead to have a customer service rep meet the plane to walk "Ti=
nkles"
and her dog off the plane and into the custody of local authorities if =

warranted...

Sure I find this whole thing crazy at best, but control HAS to be maintai=
ned
when you are 36,000 feet up in the air and there is a no tolerance policy=

when it comes to passenger outbursts as well as not following rules or =

direction...

Wonder if Rover was a comfort in the jail cell...Just wonderingggggggggg.=

Before I go, I want to wish my first-born, the one and only Flypup, a ver=
y
happy birthday. Today he is 31 years old and while it's customary to ask=

"where the time went"? I only have to look in a mirror to get that an=
swer...

I know I have bragged about him before and if you think that's going to=

stop me, I guess you forgot who I am...

Flypup never ceases to impress me and make me proud with the man he
continues to become. The things he holds dear to his heart are the
things that make his character so admirable. His personality is like
a beacon of light and he can make a room filled with unhappy people
smile by just entering that room...

He has been a volunteer in various nursing homes no matter where he has=

lived, and I saw firsthand the effect he had on the residents many years=

ago when I went with him to visit a few of his favorite "grandmas and=

grandpas". Each and every one of the residents gently touched my arm =

and told me what a wonderful son I had and I think you can imagine the =

warmth I had for them and the pride I had for my son...

OK, I'll stop...So.....Happy birthday honey, while you may have been a =

source of gray hairs in your teens, you are a source of inspiration,
admiration and love to those who are lucky enough to have you in their =

lives. I am truly blessed...

:-)
