Greetings...

Sometimes, make that more than sometimes, a previous column,
(friday's in particular), warrants additional comments, and or
clarifications. Here are a few of both...

I received an email from a reader who sends me emails on occasion
regarding a topic I have written about. He doesn't always agree,
nor would I expect he or anyone else to on a regular basis. He
said something which I replied to and though about it again this
morning and decided I might need to clarify something I said on
Friday...

With regards to the current ugliness occuring all over because of
the passage of the healthcare bill, I invited all of you to give
your opinions in email or the blogs. I did, however, say that any
inappropriate attacks or language would be pulled by me. He felt
I was threatening to censor anyone that didn't agree with me...

Uh...Censoring is the last thing I would, or have ever done when it
comes to comments on my blog. The reason I said what I did stems from
experience when it comes to the current administration, president
Obama in particular, that stems as far back as the campaign. I have
never seen such ugly rhetoric aimed at any candidate or president
in my life. Mass emails with forward after forward stating things
that have been proven false time and time again. He has been called
everything from the anti-christ to a barrage of very racist names
that I found insulting as an American and someone who has always
been around many different cultures, nationalities and religious
backgrounds. Because no one reading the column knows the racial
or religious background of people that post, I feel it well within
my duties as the editor to make sure some kind of respect is shown
to each other...

There is nothing wrong with criticizing President Obama regarding
his policies or his ideas, it's another thing to react the way I
have been seeing people react the past two years...

Criticizing President Bush always brought out the "you're un-American=
"
rhetoric. Criticizing any President is something we, as Americans have =

the right and duty to do. The sheep mentality is something that has never=

worked well for any citizens or country...

The debt we are all watching jump by astronomical proportions is scary =

when you do the math, but the money we have spent, and are still spending=

on the wars we are currently involved in was an inherited expense, as
are many other ills now facing our nation...

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I'm prepared again for the "stuff" that's=

So, do I censor? Nope...

Do I expect people to play fair and not resort to personal attacks
against each other? Not always, but I always hope...

And I would suggest, before sending out emails that a friend of a
friend of a friend knows is true, go to www.snopes.com. You'll
save yourself a lot of typing and save a lot of people from hitting
the delete key over and over and over and over...


Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to put in a call to a bookie in
Vegas and see what the odds are on how many people will demand to
be unsubscribed after today...

Might as well make a few bucks...
