Greetings...

Thirty years ago, China imposed a one-child policy that limits population
growth and because of strict penalities, created alarming amounts of
infanticide...

The "wonderful" authorities in Shanghai are at it again, only this time
they are considering a one-dog policy for their residents...

The law would allow one dog per family and require owners to register
their pets for a fee. Pets would be required to be spayed or neutered
and give up any puppies born by the time they are three months old...

The reasons for this possible law include limited dog-walking space in
the densely populated area, one million dogs and 20 million people,
and the amount of dog attacks that have been reported each year which
are estimated at 100,000 and 140,000 attacks last year alone which
caused this law to be considered...

Shanghai isn't the first to consdier this law. Two other cities already
have the one-dog policy in effect...

While the supporters of this law use the reasons above for supporting
it, pet lovers are afraid the law will lead to more strays and inhumane
death and disposal of puppies...

While animal shelters are where "over the limit" dogs have to be taken,
I'm sure those poor pups have no chance of getting adopted and will meet
with certain death...

Although I'm not about to get into the abortion issue, 400 million births
have been prevented because of the one-child policy. I don't have the
number on the amount of infants that have been killed because they were
number two, or three or...

Terminating a pregnancy is a hot button on both sides of the argument, but
I bet both sides would agree that mandatory abortion is reprehensible and
morally wrong...

And now, because people in China have discovered the joys of owning a dog,
that too, will be limited by law, punishable by cruelty and death to the
animal...

There are ordinances all over the country pertaining to the number of dogs
you are allowed to have and the technical licenses you have to get to
keep more than two, (or more), but I cannot imagine having to choose
between Moosie or Ginger of I was told one had to go...

What this shows me is that the government in China puts little value on
life, whether human or animal...

Just another case of government dictating laws "for their own good"...

Be afraid, very afraid. Too many people are paranoid about terrorists
when a bigger danger lurks. Let's hope the masses in China some day
stand up and fight for the human rights they deserve because if they
don't, the masses will be controlled by a government that ALL of us
may be in the way of...
