No pain... No expensive surgery...
http://pd.gophercentral.com/u/1072/c/186/a/25

May 28, 2010

Greetings...

The next few days are going to be busy before I go back to
Arizona. Today, another eye doctor appointment for my mom.
As positive as I try to be with her and encouraging, I
honestly don't know how she is coping with the constant
pain, infections and surgeries. While her eyes may be
a little better than a year ago, one eye is still totally
blind and the other eye still hasn't healed enough to
give her better vision in it...

The team of specialists she sees every few days are known
to be some of the best in the country, but that only
makes her feel like there is no hope for her since she
has been going through this for over four years...

A very dear friend of mine came over for a visit today
and at least my mom was able to take her mind off of
her "problems" for a while. Today, we'll be seeing my
cousin and the best part of the upcoming weekend is
that Flypup will be coming into town today for a few
days...

Needless to say, I'm thrilled because I haven't seen him
in almost a year because of his flying schedule. Arizona
is almost a six hour flight from Baltimore and too far
to pop in for a weekend. Since the flight to Chicago is
only a little over an hour, he decided to pop in to see
me and his Grandma. He's her first grandson and has always
had a special place in her heart, so at least this will
also help her mood because my kid is quite a bit like his
mom (God help him), and he always puts a smile on her
face when he's around...

My sister will be back from Hawaii on Sunday and Flypup
will be heading back to Baltimore and I will be heading
back to Arizona either Sunday or Monday...

Flyboy was supposed to go to work today, but had to call
off because that "funny" little thing called Murphy's
Law hit our house yesterday...

Flyboy called me and I could tell by the tone of his
voice that something was wrong. He told me he was taking
a shower and heard water running. Smart arse that I am
told him it was customary to hear water running while
in a shower...

What wasn't customary was a garage filled with water
from a blown valve on the hot water tank! He spent a few
hours cleaning up the mess and made arrangements for a
new one to be installed so we won't have to bathe in the
pool...

I felt sorry for him because these kind of things usually
happen to me the day after he leaves for work. Granted,
I felt bad for him, but happy that I had missed all the
"fun"...

I guess before I go, I'll make my final statements on
this season's American Idol. In a nutshell...it sucked...

That being said, I know there are a lot of Crystal Bowersox
fans who are sad and feel she was robbed. I don't personally
feel that way and in a sea of mediocre talent this year,
I will say I wanted Lee Dewyze to win and think with a
little "work", he has the type of voice that may be able
to be marketable to a larger audience than Bowersox would
have been. I like his voice and it has a "Bryan Addams"
kind of sound...

The finale was pretty good actually although I wonder if
the younger ones wondered why most of the guests were
from an era before they were born. It seemed like a
reunion of singers and groups from "my day" and while
the songs brought back so many memories, maybe someone
needs to tell some of the older singers that while they
may have been good in the 70's and 80's, their voices
retired twenty years ago...

I'm glad they paid homage to Simon on and off all night
because no one can deny he has been the backbone of the
show and I sincerely doubt this show will be able to
hang on more than one more year without him. Heck, it
suffered with Paula gone in my opinion. I was really
happy to see Paula invited back for the finale and I
think Kara seemed to resent the attention paid to her
even though she did her best to put on her "I love
Paula" face. I wouldn't mind if she left and I give
Ellen DeGeneres kudos for the job she did this year...

Seeing some of the past Idol winners only reminded you
of the weak talent this year and I'm disappointed "my
boy" David Cook couldn't make it to the finale...

We'll see what happens next year and I'm sure there
will be a lot of people who tune in to see who the new
judge will be and decide if American Idol is history...

Today is the start of the Memorial Day weekend that
honors our men and women in the military. Say a prayer
for those who have fallen, those who have served, and
those who are currently serve...

:-)

Have a great weekend everyone!
