November 26, 2010

Greetings...

Yes, I realize I credited JFK instead of FDR for the "There is nothing
to fear but fear itself" quote. I had several quotes jotted down and
mixed up the quotes. Oh well, maybe JFK also said it when he got caught
with Marilyn Monroe...

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Now, the madness begins for
millions of shoppers who got up, got dressed and went to various stores
for the Black Friday deals. I realize it's tradition for some, and
my own sister is one of those out there at the crack of dawn looking
for bargains because she claims it's "fun"...

I think I'd rather have a root canal than partake of this yearly "fun".
It's not because I'm too old, I never was one that joined the multitudes
standing in line to get a chance to buy one of a very limited supply
of an item...

I will confess to going to a Midnight Madness" sale with a girlfriend
many moons ago when I lived in Illinois. I also will admit we had a
rip-roaring ball, but that was before people started killing each other
in stampedes, pulling out a gun and shooting someone because they cut in
line, or just because...

People's shopping habits have changed the past few years due to the
economy and personal finances. Although in the past, people didn't think
twice about pulling out the credit card to buy indulgent gifts for any
and everyone. Only the wealthy can afford to do that today and they are
usually cheap and try to hang onto what they have...

How will the economy affect your gift giving this year? Will you be
downsizing your list or cutting down the amount spent on each one?
I have watched people shop during the holidays and always wonder how
they are determining who gets what as they throw things in the cart...

Do you think some people "bulk shop" and decided who will get the item
after they get home, or do you think most people personalize their
choice as they purchase the items?

I still think most people have to main lists to shop for...

The... " I want to buy this person something"

and the ever popular, "I GOTTA buy this person something"...

Come on, we have ALL had that list at one time or another haven't we?

Have a great weekend everyone and be careful out there!

:-)
