August 2, 2010

Greetings...

If I had to use one word to describe my feelings the past few days,
the word would definitely be "frustrated". The reason wouldn't be
considered Earth shattering or life altering, but I'm sure there
are plenty of people that would not only understand, but sympathize
with me. The reason for the frustration?

Cable/Internet problems off and on for the past week, and a total
outage that lasted hours, then would come back sporadically. I called
the cable company twice and the first time I waited on hold for 30 minutes,
only to get cut off when I finally had someone to talk to!

I waited and called back an our later and was on hold over 40 minutes,
listening to a recorded sales pitch singing the praises of our cable
company and the speedy fast Internet service available...

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Another "priceless" recorded suggestion was to visit their online
support website to save time. Great idea IF you have Internet and
not calling about a loss of Internet service!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I FINALLY got to talk to someone and whined about my problem. He supposedly
did a few things on his end to check the problem and found a weak signal
coming into the house. I guess he didn't hear the strong signal coming out
my house while I was waiting and waiting and did I mention...waiting on
hold while governments in other countries were changing hands...

He did the infamous good news/bad news bit and the good news won't be
happening until Wednesday morning. In the meantime, the bad news is
that I will have Internet whenever the signal decides to work its way
to the modem and wireless router...

Wednesday? Three days from when I called? OMG, what am I going to do,
how will I survive, how did I end up this way????

A few years ago, I would have made fun at someone like me worrying about
a computer temporarily without Internet, but that was then and this is
now. Like many others, I am so dependent on the computer for so many
day to day activites, from banking, to searching for things and of
course, shopping online...

I guess I'm a little embarrassed at being so wigged out about this, but at
least I don't put something in the microwave, set it for 55 seconds and
yell at it to hurry up!

Uh-Oh, I just realized I HAVE done that!!!

Please tell me I'm not the only one that is, or would be bummed out at
losing something you can't touch or feel...a signal!

I guess I better get moving and hope for a signal to send this out before
there's another signal blackout...

Wish me luck!!!
