Greetings...

Unless you have been living under a rock the past few years, you
know that one of the most popular and parodied music videos is
"Single Ladies" by Beyonce...

It's a catchy tune with dance moves that have been duplicated from
everyone including Justin Timberlake and Chipmunks in the animated
movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks. There is even a wonderful clip of
a little baby standing up at a coffee table dancing to Beyonce's
music video...

In the few cases I just mentioned, the amusement level was through
the roof from belly laughs to plain ole "awwwwwwwww's" watching the=

baby dance...

The reaction I had while watching a group of seven and eight-year-olds =

dancing to that same song during a dance competition didn't include
laughing or "awwwwwwww's"...

Last month, the World of Dance competition was held in Pomona, California=
.
A group of 7 and 8 year olds came out in midriff tops and short skirts =

and proceeded to re-enact Beyonce's moves in the Single Ladies music
video. The girls are definitely talented...

However...

If you have ever seen the original music video, Beyonce does some very =

"adult" moves that include hip thrusts, gyrations and moves that woul=
d
be considered sexual in nature. Watching little girls duplicate these sam=
e
moves was not only uncomfortable, but it made me question the brains
or lack of brains of the choreographers AND parents in allowing this in=

a society that should be more interested in preserving and protecting the=

youth of young children instead of putting them on public display that =

leaves no question as to sexual content of the moves...

I feel the same about the stupid parents who parade their little girls =

in pageants that go out of their way to transform little girls into
Playboy centerfolds...

This same dance troup caused a stir a year ago with their dancing to
"My Boyfriend's Back". Same gyrations, same type of moves and they we=
re
a year YOUNGER!

You can call me a prude, you can call me a "fuddy duddy", or you can=

call me a parent who wonders why young girls are being put on public
display in such a way that strips away any innocence a young girl
this age should have. The parents are heard cheering for their little
girls...

Houston, we have a problem...

It may be easy to look at these young girls and make horrible comments =

about them, it may be easy to call the Choreographer all kinds of names=

for developing such a dance program for these kids, but isn't it the
job of a parent to monitor what is appropriate for their child and
teach them accordingly?

These kids are extremely talented and that is obvious by the moves they=

do when they aren't trying to look like pole strippers, but I can't
imagine allowing my 7-year-old leave the house in thigh high boots (part=

of the outfit last year), and going to dance at a club, which would look=

just as inappropriate as the moves they did on stage...

It's a sad day when parents live vicariously through their children with=

these type of competitions for whatever psychological reasons THEY have..=
.

Why the need to push young kids to grow up and act "adult-like"? They=

aren't adults, they are KIDS and while you can never keep your children=

100% safe from predators, you certainly don't have to advertise them
in an age where over 2 MILLION people have already seen this video in the=

Internet...

An 18-month-old toddler doing a hip thrust and gyrations is adorable,
a seven-year-old doing the same thing is a recipe for disaster...

I'll close with three words...

Jon Benet Ramsey...
