Greetings...

What can I say, as wonderful as technology is, it can sometimes
paralyze operations when it goes wrong. Mailings are still not
back to normal and I'm still getting loads of emails asking me where
I am and if I'm OK. Unfortunately, those who are asking, probably
wont see my response unless they are one of those who have been
going to the blogs to keep updated on the column until they are able
to receive it in their mailbox...

When I write columns, I understand all of the topics will never be
of interest to everyone receiving it. That being said, there is usually=

one topic that a majority of people can relate to, or have in common
with me and each other, and that would be...our pets, no matter what
type of pet you have, although I won't lie to you when I say I probably=

will never understand the love people can have for a snake, but again, =

maybe that's just me...

Because I have dogs, Great Danes in particular, it's understandable that=

I would use my Moosie and Ginger as the subjects of my pet stories since=

my Keno and Mystic are no longer with us. Today's column is actually
about all four of them, and here's a spoiler alert. If you haven't seen=

the movie Marley and Me, you may want to stop reading because I will
be revealing the ending, because it is the reason for today's column...=


Last night, Flyboy and I were watching Marley and Me, a story about a
VERY precocious Golden Retriever. Nah, make that...a very BAD dog, but =

amusing as heck to watch because his antics weren't going on in our
house!

As the movie progressed and we laughed and laughed, the movie took a
turn which we both knew was going to be a "problem" for us because it=

had to do with Marley's age, illness, and having to be put to sleep.
Any pet owner who has had to go through this can understand how the
mood in my home turned immediately. Flyboy looked at me and I looked at =

him and both of our eyes started to "mist over". The mist lubricated=

my eyes for the full-blown sobbing that followed. Yes, I felt bad for
Marley and his owners, but the sobbing was for our own experience with =

Keno. Of course, Mystic was definitely part of it, but our boy Keno
was our special boy that brought us so much joy and laughter, and of
course, "magic moments" that I shared with all of you...

By the time the movie ended, my nose was red, my eyes swollen and
I was actually upset at watching a movie that ended the way it did...

I wanted to give Moosie and Ginger a big 'ole hug and realized they
weren't around and must be outside, so I went to the patio door to
look for them when all of a sudden, my blubbering was replaced by
a loud belly laugh!!!

I called Flyboy over and although his eyes looked a lot like mine did, =

he also let out a loud laugh at what we saw...

Out in the back, INSIDE the fenced off yard that is growing new seed,
was a giant, goofy looking dawg staring back at us and hopping and
jumping up for joy at being inside "her" yard! Ginger was on the ou=
tside
looking at Moose with the "how on earth did she get in there and why ca=
n't
I figure a way to get in there"?

Moosie has somehow unfastened the ties that held the fence together and=

decided that the delicate blades of grass growing were good enough for =

her. Flyboy went over immediately to get her out and she would have
NONE of that, chase me daddy went on for quite a while until she realized=

daddy was no longer amused. She galloped out and he secured the fence, on=
ly
this time he secured it and put two wrought iron chairs in front of the s=
ection
to make sure she stayed out...

HA!!! When Moosie decides she is on a mission, no two lousy chairs =
OR fencing
are going to stop her from having fun and doing what she wants. She came=

inside with us to make sure we would be "out of sight" and headed bac=
k
outside with clueless Ginger in tow...

We knew she was up to something and waited a few minutes before going bac=
k
out. Sure enough, she was inside the fenced area again and the chairs wer=
e
moved out of the way. She did this again and again until she finally got=

herself stuck on the way in one time. A bigger barricade was created and=

her fun was officially over...

We KNOW she will go out there tonight and plot her next move...

The reason I told this story was to explain to those who may not have pet=
s
why we love our pets so much. At the blink of an eye, a pet can turn
gut churning sadness into joy and laughter. The pet you get after you
lose a pet is never a replacement, but an addition to the love you are =

capable of giving and getting...

My Moosie and Ginger not only helped me overcome the memory of the grief=

of losing Keno, they continuously help us enjoy the happy memories
of Keno and Mystic and enjoy the new ones we experience on a daily basis.=
..

And I know in my heart that if Keno was here and saw Moosie stampeding =

the new grass coming up and using her paws of death on the dirt, he
would high five her and say, "Atta girl Moosie"!!!
