Greetings...
Flyboy's vacation started with a case of pink eye and progressed to the
flu the past three days. Being the generous husbnad that he is, he
"shared" his illness with me and the both of us look like the stars
from the Night of the Living Dead, even though the Zombies in that
movie had more color in their faces than we do right now...
The things some men will do to get out of working on their "honey Do"
list!
There's another flight attendant story in the news as you may or may
not know. Yesterday, a female Southwest Airlines flight attendant had
a situation on board a flight that cuased her to call the police and
have them meet the flight in Albuquerque beofre it went on to Seattle...
A husband and wife were involved in an altercation over their 13-month-old's
constant crying on the flight. The flight attendant, as well as several
passengers saw the mother slap the baby on the face. The flight attendant
offered to take the baby for a little walk to diffuse the situation and
saw that the little girl had a black eye, not necessarily from the slap,
but it created enough concern that the flight attendant was concerned
for her safety and alerted authorities...
Supposedly, the husband went to the back galley and held the baby until she
fell asleep and when they landed, the police were there to question them.
They questioned them and I guess, didn't feel there was any need to take
them in or have the child looked at...
When questioned about the black eye, the mother told the police the baby
got it from an uncle's dog. There are always discrepancies in stories or
little details within the story and some have said the father was also
seen slapping the child. In other reports, that wasn't mentioned, but there
is no question about the mother smacking the baby, and a 13-month old IS a
baby...
The reason given by the mother is as ridiculous as they come. She was trying
to get the kid to shut-up. Ohhhhhhh, is that how it's done? Baby cries, baby
continues to cry, smack the heck out of the baby and baby stops crying?
Is that like stepping on someone's foot to cure a headache?
Believe it or not, the flight attendant, while supported by the majority
of people, has taken some heat for sticking her nose where it didn't belong
and to that I say...
Well, I can't say that so I'll just say...PHOOEY!!!
Personally, I wasn't comfortable hearing the police let the husband, wife
and baby go after a few quick questions. I sincerely hope it's just a case
of a pair or weary parents traveling with a cranky kid. We've all been
there done that when it comes to kids, but in this case, I don't see how
anyone could take issue with the flight attendant's actions...
The flight was disrupted, other passengers were upset after witnessing
the baby getting smacked and when you are in a metal tube flying 500
miles an hour at 30,000 feet, the last thing you want going on is a
mob of angry people who are capable of some very bad behavior!
Hey, at least the flight attendant didn't grab the baby, two beers and slide
down the emergency slide after landing!!!
