October 28, 2009

Greetings...

Believe it or not, I'm sitting here with a pair of sweatpants and a
sweatshirt on. Yesterday, I had on a tank top and a pair of shorts.
A cold front blew in and chilled the air almost 30 degrees. It's
60 degrees right now and, yeah, I know, that sounds like a heat
wave to most of you right about now, but for us "weenies" in the
desert, that's enough for us to shiver...

The front that came by not only gave us chilly temps, but gave us
a whopper of a dust storm that left the usual mess and grit all over
the place and I have been thinking of contacting the makers of
Endust to see if they want to film a commercial around here to see
just how good their product really is!

I can bet you that they wouldn't take the challenge...

WAYFARER STYLE SUNGLASSES

Retail Price: $39.99
DEAL PRICE: $3.99

These classic and always popular Wayfarer style sunglasses have
never been more affordable. At $3.99 you'll want to stock up.

They are perfect for the beach or any activity. It's the Wayfarer
Style... your probably more familiar with it if I say Tom Cruise
in Risky Business, The Blues Brothers, Will Smith, etc...

Sunglass styles come and go but this style remains popular
and stylish. Two reasons for this:

1. Rugged and built to last. You won't have to worry about
anything flimsy or breaking off on these.

2. The lens color is very dark. It's so hard to find a real
dark pair of glasses anymore.

Drop them, toss them... they can take it! These will last you a
long, long time. To grab a pair or two, visit:

Flyboy left bright and early this morning and reluctantly took his
jacket for the first time in over six months, not because it's chilly
around here, which he can take better than I can, but because he has
an overnight in Philadelphia...

Flypup, on the other hand is settling in on his new job in Baltimore,
where he ended up being based. He and the wifey are apartment hunting
as we speak and are crossing their fingers that they get to stay there =

at least a year before having to move again...

I know most of you have heard the news about the two Northwest pilots
who have been "grounded" by the FAA this week for overshooting their=

Minneapolis destination by 150 miles. While the investigation is still =

being conducted, there have been conflicting reports as to what really =

happened...

The first explanation was that they both fell asleep, which was denied =

by the pilots...

The second explanation was that they were arguing and so engrossed in the=

argument they didn't hear the radio calls and missed their approach. If t=
his
explanation is believed, I have a beautiful plot of ocean front property=

in my back yard for sale...

The third explanation was that they were both on their computers and agai=
n,
so engrossed, they "goofed"...

I don't know what Northwest's policy in the cockpit is, but the airline=

Flyboy works for bans any computer use in the cockpit. I'm not saying
rules are always followed, but the consequences are so great that they =

are usually pretty good about following the rule...

I can only imagine the gut-wrenching feeling for the flying public and =

the passengers of that flight when they heard what had happened "up the=
re",
and although the facts aren't in yet, Flyboy and I discussed it quite a=

bit to come up with what we think happened and the truth is somewhere in=

the middle...

Maybe they WERE arguing...However it probably went something like this...=

Captain..."YOU were sleeping"!!!

First Officer...No, YOU were sleeping"!!!

No matter what the findings are, these two very experienced pilots will=

suffer some harsh career consequences and are already...

Let this be, pardon the expression, a "wake-up call" to pilots and th=
e industry
itself of the dangers of pilot fatigue, which is a very real issue...

And while the public and the passengers are all horrified at what happene=
d,
(rightly so), thank God they are all alive to voice their outrage...
