Many of you have poinsettias in your home around Christmas
time. Poinsettias are native to Mexico. The Mexicans in
the eighteenth century thought the plants were symbolic
of the Star of Bethlehem, consequently, the Poinsettia
became associated with the Christmas season. America's
first ambassador to Mexico, Joel Poinsett brought the
plants to America in 1828. The plant was named after him.
There is no mention of poinsettias in the Bible.
