Here's the Scoop...

I am still in shock over the death of Gene Wilder. Here a some of Hollywood's best paying tribute to the legendary comedic genius.

Famed director Mel Brooks, who led Wilder in The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein, tweeted that Wilder was "one of the truly great talents of our time."

James Bond, Sir Roger Moore, said he had "only happy memories" of his Sunday Lovers co-star.

Comedy legend Carl Reiner tweeted a photo of Wilder writing, "Au revoir to a gifted actor..."

Fellow funnyman Jim Carrey said, "Gene Wilder was one of the funniest and sweetest energies ever to take a human form. If there's a heaven he has a Golden Ticket," referring to Wilder's best-known role as Willy Wonka in the 1971 classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Filmmaker and comedian Albert Brooks said Wilder was "as funny as they come."

Billy Crystal called Wilder "a giant of comedy" and "a true genius."

Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus thanked Wilder "for all that joy," calling him an "influence."

Actor Jeffery Tambor said there were "no words" but managed to find a few including "hilarious" and "brilliantly brilliant."

Director Kevin Smith called Wilder "the face of childhood joy," saying Wilder's longtime love Gilda Radner would be waiting for him on the other side. Radner died of ovarian cancer in 1989.

Actor Orlando Jones used a popular Willy Wonka meme to honor Wilder saying "Say hello to Gilda and Richard for us," referring to Richard Pryor, with whom Wilder worked on a number of movies including 1980's Stir Crazy.

Be Well,
Steve

Alison Brie joins Jenji Kohan's Netflix series 'Glow'
Alison Brie is headed for Jenji Kohan's new Netflix series, Glow.

The 33-year-old actress confirmed she'll star on the new comedy in a tweet Monday after news outlets reported her casting earlier in the day.

Glow is inspired by the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling -- a real-life 1980s female wrestling league. Brie will play "a struggling actress" who is "thrust into the glitter and spandex world of women's wrestling," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kohan, who is known for creating Weeds and Orange is the New Black, will co-executive produce the series with Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. Nurse Jackie actress Betty Gilpin will reportedly co-star.

Brie is known for playing Trudy Campbell on Mad Men and presently voices Diane Nguyen on the animated Netflix series BoJack Horseman. She will also appear in the movie The Masterpiece with James Franco.

LOOSE LIPS:
"It's just ... everything's new. And we have both really worked on ourselves on the parts that needed the most attention. And it feels really different."
--Courteney Cox, on reconciling with partner Johnny McDaid, on Running Wild with Bear Grylls

Julie Andrews approves of Emily Blunt playing Mary Poppins
Julie Andrews thinks Emily Blunt will make a great Mary Poppins.

Blunt, 33, revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Andrews, 80, approved of her casting while speaking to Mary Poppins Returns director Rob Marshall.

"Rob said he was in the Hamptons, and he saw [Andrews], and he said, 'It's top secret, but Emily Blunt's playing Mary Poppins,'" Blunt related. "And she went, 'Oh, wonderful!'"

"I felt like I wanted to cry," the actress admitted. "It was lovely to get her stamp of approval. That took the edge off it, for sure."

Andrews starred as Mary Poppins in Disney's original 1964 adaptation of the P.L. Travers book series. Blunt will play the magical nanny in Mary Poppins Returns, which opens in theaters Dec. 25, 2018.

"I feel a little more trepidation with this [role] because she's so emblematic of people's nostalgia," the younger actress said. "It's such an important character in people's childhood."

"We're delving into the books a lot more, which is a different version of the character, I'll say that much," she revealed. "She's a little meaner, yeah."

Marshall said in a press release in May that he was looking forward "to creating an original movie musical." The movie will see Mary Poppins reunite with a grownup Jane and Michael Banks in Depression-era London.

Who let his this thought "The Kardashians are 'deep thinking, feeling people'" be known to the world?

Singer and actress Katharine McPhee thinks there's more to the Kardashians than meets the eye.

The 32-year-old Scorpion star voiced her support for the Keeping Up with the Kardashians family while discussing society's emphasis on beauty with Ocean Drive magazine.

"I love the Kardashians; I enjoy their show," McPhee said. "I think that they actually are pretty deep thinking, feeling people that have to deal with their issues and lives in their own ways."

"I think some of the images they are constantly putting out are a part of their brand, like constant perfection," she said. "But there is too much emphasis on the way people look."

McPhee told Ocean Drive she's long been aware of the value society places on appearance. She admitted she thought of herself as "pretty but stupid" when she was young, in part due to emphasis on her looks.

"I wasn't the best in school, but I got attention," the star recalled. "I got that a lot as a kid, especially growing up in L.A. with talent and modeling agencies and people giving you their cards, when you become valued only for the way you look.

"One of the things I like the most about myself now is how emotionally intelligent I am," she said. "We put these messages out there that [being pretty] is such a valuable thing ... it's something that people can value too much."

Khloe Kardashian had shared similar sentiments about appearance in a June interview with Harper's Bazaar. The reality star confessed she's received a lot more positive attention since her 40-pound weight loss.

"I definitely think the fashion industry, and people in general, look at me more now that I've lost weight," she told the magazine. "People actually said [before], 'I just can't work with you' -- because I was too big."

McPhee came to fame on American Idol Season 5 and last released the album Hysteria in September. She presently plays Paige Dineen on Scorpion, which will return for a third season Oct. 3 on CBS.
