Alec Baldwin's alleged stalker jailed for contempt of court

Genevieve Sabourin, the Canadian woman charged with stalking actor Alec Baldwin in New York, was held in contempt of court Wednesday, officials said. A Manhattan judge Wednesday ordered Sabourin to serve 30 days in jail for repeatedly interrupting testimony in her stalking trial and heckling Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria, CNN said. Baldwin, 55, cried on the witness stand Tuesday as he described how Sabourin came to his house in the Hamptons the day he proposed to Hilaria. "I ran to tell my wife not to go near the door because I wasn't sure if she had a gun or a weapon or where we were at this point, and then I called the East Hampton police," the New York Daily News quoted him as saying in court. Sabourin, 41, called out at times during Baldwin's testimony, crying, "No, no," when Baldwin said he had dinner with her to give her "career advice" and never had an affair with her as she claimed. Baldwin said Sabourin was the longtime mistress of producer Marty Bregman and the dinner was a favor to his friend. However, Bregman told the News that wasn't true. "I'm 87 years old and that's very flattering, but that's all it is," Bregman said. Sabourin, who faces one count of stalking and more than 20 counts of harassment, has insisted Baldwin's stalking accusation was aimed at hiding his romance with her from Hilaria.

Katherine Jackson appealing wrongful death verdict

Katherine Jackson has filed documents in Los Angeles appealing the jury's verdict in her son Michael's wrongful death lawsuit, TMZ reported. Michael died June 25, 2009, at the age of 50 from an overdose of sedatives and anesthesia administered by his private physician Conrad Murray to help the insomniac artist sleep. Murray was subsequently sentenced to four years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. Katherine sued AEG for more than $40 billion, claiming the company behind Michael's ill-fated concert tour was negligent in hiring Murray to care for Michael. However, a jury in the civil suit against AEG decided last month the company was not responsible for Michael's death. TMZ said Katherine is pursuing an appeal even though civil lawsuit verdicts are seldom overturned.

Katharine McPhee no longer dating married director, report says

U.S. singer and actress Katharine McPhee is no longer dating married director Michael Morris, People.com reported. "Katharine is no longer seeing Michael -- at least for now," a source told the celebrity magazine. Morris' wife, actress Mary McCormack, reportedly threw the director out of their home last month after he told her photos of him kissing McPhee were about to be published. McPhee was separated from Nick Cokas, her husband of four years, at the time of the scandal. "Katharine still has no plans to move forward with divorce at the moment, though they are not living together," the insider told People.com. "This is an incredibly hard time for Katharine." McPhee and Morris met on the set of the now-canceled TV show "Smash."

Jake Gyllenhaal lands in ER after punching mirror on film set

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal was treated at a Los Angeles hospital emergency room after he punched a mirror on the set of his film "Nightcrawler," People.com said. The actor was discharged after he received stitches Wednesday morning, then returned to work later in the day, the report said. "Jake flipped out," a set insider told People.com. "His character was looking into a mirror during the scene and punched the mirror in anger and broke it, cutting himself so bad he had to be taken to a hospital." A source close to Gyllenhaal told People.com the incident was nothing more than the result of an intense scene at the end of an 18-hour day. "The scene was emotionally charged and his character was talking into a mirror and he got so into it, he banged his hands against the mirror and it broke and cut him," the source said. "It was all the scene and not because he was mad about anything else."
