What's Up...

We are only a few weeks away from the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's masterpiece, Nevermind. To commemorate the occasion, the music bigwigs have decided a deluxe remastering/reissue edition will be released September 19. I cannot wait to get a hold of this (along with a new concert DVD). Nevermind is nearly a perfect album with four megahit singles like "Lithium" "Come As You Are" and of course, "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

Nevermind is certainly the most polished, produced, and radio-friendly album the band put out - so it's no wonder people love it. The opposite of this album has to be the MTV Unplugged concert. It's an uncompromising and raw performance that almost seeks to combat the success of Nevermind. An oddity in itself, the concert features mostly covers and only a few of Nirvana's singles. For me, the most memorable is a cover of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World." Oh, and as a further rebellion against MTV unplugged conventions - you can clearly hear the electrified distortion on Kurt Cobain's acoustic guitar - which evidently was plugged in the whole time! Check out one of my favorite performances of all time.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, the Deal of the Day from Gophercentral/PulseTV has gotten HUGELY popular since its start in 2007. Besides those apps I mentioned last week, we have a social media presence on Facebook - you should "Like" us for an exclusive offer for our Facebook fans. I'm not sure what it is yet, but I've been informed that it truly is exclusive to Facebook fans - so get ahead of the curve and Like us today!
